I decided to "dress up" the chrome coolant resorvoir cover on the left side of my 1800C. We I got a little creative and took a brass belt buckle and sanded/dremeled off the backing to stick it on there with some outdoor two-sided mounting tape. The only problem is, the belt buckle itself is slightly curved whereas the chrome cover is flat, so there is a slight gap at the top and bottom of where the buckle is mounted.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good caulk or sealant so I can seal up the edges around the buckle to prevent moisture or any other enviromentals in between the two spaces.

I'd use a clear RV caulk because it doesn't come in Chrome.

Not to nitpick, but don't you mean RTV caulk? You could pick up a small tube of it at your local autoparts store for around $4.

Why not just flatten the buckle to make a better fit?

Or you could use room temperature vulcanizing silicone rubber... it works too...

Because the front has a laquer finish on it that would probably crack (see picture below).

OK. I see. A good two part epoxy might work. The RTV mentioned above probably would be best though.
