What kind of pipes are you running? Any aftermarket intake/computer? There may actually be a lean problem... or perhaps a cooling system problem.

My 1800C gets warm... but it seems a 'normal' warm.

Lol, tdub, demo, it's not so much about whether it's comfortable when it's running properly... if the engine is not running properly the heat isn't about discomfort, it can be about damage to the engine... much more serious.

And welcome to the Cafe demolyrozer ... lol, or not :)

-Does the fan kick on and off?

-Does the dash light for temp come on?

-What is the scenario when you feel it is running hot....while sitting at a red light in town, while on the highway, etc etc?

- Have you ridden large CC bikes before? Not that I think that is really the issue -- but 1800 CCs of engine will have an overall higher amount of heat coming off the whole system as opposed to a 1300 or 800 etc.

- What do your spark plugs look like? Burning normal or white??

A properly tuned liquid cooled engine with a properly functioning cooling system will run the same temperature, regardless of displacement...Doesn't matter if it's a VLX 600 or a VTX 1800...Thermostat in the cooling system controls the coolant temperature...But a lean running engine will run hotter due to the A/F ratio being off...

But all this goes right out the window with an air cooled bike...

I'll feel the heat at a stop light when the fan kicks in. I also had my Temp light go on when I had an air bubble in the system after a coolant change. When was the last time your coolant was changed? Also, without :stirpot:, engines will run a little cooler with synthetic oil.
