  1. Cutting out at WOT after 5/6 seconds

    Honda VTX 1300 Forums
My apology if you already examined this and mentioned it but there is a fuel filter at the fuel inlet to the carb. It is inside the metal nipple to which the fuel supply hose attaches. Could this be clogged?
  2. new bike

    General VTX/Motorcycle Topics
Awesome. Gold Wings are great bikes.
  3. Cutting out at WOT after 5/6 seconds

I do not think that hitting the rev limiter shuts the bike off. It causes the power from the engine to drastically decrease (like you slammed the throttle all the say closed) but the bike engine is still running. There are some tests that are done when tuning the carb wherein you run the bike...

Oops, you are correct. I got the bikes backwards :( I have corrected it.

We split our time between central FL (~6 months of winter) and the mountains of western NC (~6 months of summer). This complicates our vehicle situation as we need a variety of them in each location. They are: Florida: 2013 Toyota Highlander 2012 Victory Cross Country Tour - black and blue...

    Planned Rides
I applaud your enthusiasm. Organize anything you want regardless of the number of posts you have here. Here is the link to the Ohio ride. It is in the tech session sub-forum because it began life several years ago as a tech session and has expanded to now include an organized ride as well...
  7. VTX rider club in IL

    Illinois VTX Riders
The state and regional pages on the VTX Cafe have not been very popular for many years and maybe were never particularly popular. The various meet and greets, tech sessions, organized rides, etc. are generally posted in non-regional specific sub-forums because you never know who they will...
  8. OK, does anyone have any insight?

    Honda VTX 1800 Forums
You might have a small split in the insulation on one wire. This split might not be visible when you examine the wiring but could open up when the wiring is clamped into place. Check the portions of the wire that are clamped in place or sandwiched between the fender and the fender support.
  9. Stumped by my Lightbar

The chances are small but not zero. You can try the cheap and easy fix of replacing the bulbs. You can also remove the bulbs and use a multimeter to determine if you are getting power to the bulb sockets.
  10. OK, does anyone have any insight?

    Honda VTX 1800 Forums
It sounds to me like a problem in the bulb socket. Perhaps this is grounding the power wire somehow.

*** The Shop ~ I NEED URGENT MOTORCYCLE HELP!! ***
Martina, Start your own thread on this subject stating your problem and showing pictures. You may need to get to five posts before you can post a picture. You can achieve this by starting a thread introducing yourself in the appropriate sub-forum. Also make sure to state what model bike and...
  13. No power...

    Honda VTX 1300 Forums
Yes, you should be worried. Well.... only slightly worried :) You should not be losing air at a rate requiring you to fill the tires every week. I can go 2-3 weeks and only lose 1/2 psi.
  14. The "Whatever" thread....

    General VTX/Motorcycle Topics
Very cool. Looks like a British Aerospace Hawk 200 with a dual cockpit for training.

When you sprayed the stem, did you only spray the nozzle part of the stem or did you also spray all around the base of the stem? The base of the stem is another possible leak point as there is a rubber seal where the valve stem enters the rim.
  16. Well if You Thought The Last Lights Post Was Enough.......

    Honda VTX 1300 Forums
I believe but am not certain that you can edit your post for some period of time and then after this time expires, the editing option disappears. The problem is that I do not know how long the editing period lasts. It is more than a minute or two but less than a week and.

Please post where the bike is located. That way potential buyers can better gauge their interest. Thanks.

Nothing to be sorry about. I suggested he search for the very stand you pictured so your post was very timely. Thanks.
  19. Lifts and jacks

    Honda VTX 1300 Forums
The steel Harbor Freight motorcycle jack works well for lifting the bike and the bike is reasonably stable on this jack. However, I would always recommend that you use the jack just to raise the bike and that you set it on a stand. Do a search on the VTX Cafe and you will find plans for a very...
  20. I May Have Been A Little Late Getting this Rear Tire Changed

    General VTX/Motorcycle Topics
No, the bald tire (rear only) was not intentional but it was very poor bike maintenance on my part. A quick inspection of the tires should be a part of every pre-ride routine.
