Listening to all this, I am wondering if his gas tank isn't venting properly? First 8 miles no problem, than squealing and die. wait a minute, start back up 100 yards, squealing and die. Could the squealing be the fuel pump trying to pump gas against the vacuum in the tank. I don't know a lot about 1800's, but it IS a fuel injected engine and I am guessing that it must have a high pressure pump to inject that fuel into the cylinder under compression!!!!

Could it be the sound of the fuel pump cavitating?

here is the issue as I see it..

the "Noise".... talking level.. screaming level.. or ear killing..
front of engine,,, lower engine, rear of engine...
a low tone... a little girl screaming tone...

    no useful information.. provided...

remote viewing is not working... nor is mind reading..

100 plus parts working... 20 could be making this noise that has not be located or defined...

and YES, it could be the clutch basket.. a part moving in a direction not designed... if ALL rivets have failed..

I do not mean any disrespect...

a few years ago.. NOT on a VTX... the ratchet fork for the shifter BENT into the back side of the clutch basket.....
it was a scream and was intermittent..

this noise is able to stop a running engine.. its serious.. and should be taken to a shop.

    my retired opinion.

    sorry for the interruption.

I've just got a chance to sit down and read some of the answers to my question. My mom passed away last week and I've been dealing with that. As far as the bike goes. I think I will look at the gas vent tube. It could've been the fuel pump making the noise. Hope it's something simple like that. I'll look in the next few days. Thanks everyone for helping. I'll let y'all know if that was it or not in a few day. Be safe.

Try just removing the gas cap (it is non vented), if your squealing goes away than the vent is the problem, if it doesn't go away then it is something else. Low hanging fruit first!!!!
