I bought this bike last Friday and it ran great. After a couple hundred miles, she started running a little rough and not wanting to idle. Seems to be getting worse and worse. I've read this can be caused by the fuel pressure regulator going bad. It runs great for about 30 seconds from a cold start and goes down hill from there. What ya think? Also, any reccomendations on where to buy the part? Here's the specifics on the bike. Thanks for your help.

2003 VTX1800, Vance & Hines pipes, everything else stock.

most likely the fuel pressure regulator on the left side of the tank follow your main fuel line down to the fuel rail the pressure regulator is right there, right after shutting the bike off pull the vacumm line off the inside of the reguilator if fuel is coming out of the vacum line then its toast.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick response. I have the part in my cart on bike bandit. I just have to call them and see about shipping overnight. I have a ride planned with some friends for this weekend and wanna get this thing up and going. They say orders ship within 3-5 days. I just gotta see if I can get them to make it happen tomorrow. Thanks again.

I'll know today

I ordered the FPR yesterday and paid the extra shipping to have it here today. We will be installing it as soon as it arrives.

Bigjon, the guy I bought the bike from says it didn't sit up, but being a 2003 with only 8000 miles, it didn't get used a ton. We ran some fuel system treatment the other day but that didn't help the problem, and the plugs are real smutty black. I'll probably pick up new plugs today as well. Anyone recommend a certain plug for this bike?
