Planning to finally replace the seat on my 1300C in the next couple weeks. The wife can't take the stocker any more.

Does anyone have advice on the Ultimate Midrider vs. the Mustang Sport Touring (with rider backrest)? I'm a somewhat big guy: 6' 4" / 245 lbs.

I like the idea of the backrest, but the Mustang looks like it's going to sit a little lower than the Ultimate? Being kinda tall, I'm afraid I'm going to be a little folded up if I sit much lower. How's the back support on the Midrider? (It's not available with a rider backrest).

Thanks in advance!

From what I have read here, many people have the Mustang seat, but it seems that just as many switch from a Mustang to the Ultimate. After pondering this question for many months, I decided to go with the Ultimate midrider (I have the same bike you have). I've tried the Mustang seat and I wasn't impressed.

seats

I have 2 mustangs and 1 corbin. I must say that the mustangs are hands down a better ride than the corbin. I can sit on the Mustang all day long with no problem. The Corbin, no way. I haven't tried the Ultimate yet but plan to get one in Sept. I also had a saddleman solo for a very short while. While this seat was comfortable on short rides, it didn't fit my butt as good as the Mustang. Shop around and sit on a few bikes with diffrent kinds of seats, it will only take a short time on the seat. When you find the one, you'll know it in a second.

Update: Went ahead and ordered the Mustang Seat today. I got a chance to try out the Mustang and it was definitely a big improvement from the stock. I'll update again when it gets here and get it on the bike.

Agreed. It just came down to choosing between something that I had a chance to try out and knew would be big improvement, versus something I've read about and think would an improvement. Just plain old fear of the unknown prevented me from going with the midrider.

My choice is more cosmetic I suppose. I don't want some stitched "X" on an otherwise curvy smooth seat that looks OEM.

Just fyi to that last post, if you look on the Ultimate web page they offer the seat with other embroidery than the X and they also offer it plain with no embroidery. I plan to purchase one in the next month or so and I am going with plain as I hate logos of any kind. It's my bike not my advertisement. just my .02:beer:

I am back well sorta, I bought the Mustang wide touring model and It is a major improvement over stock. Have done a lot of riding and it is great. Still need some risers for a little more comfort, I am a little streached out. :patriot:

While the Mustang sits you an inch or so closer, I would still say you need a 4in. Riser. The two's aren't quite enough, and the 6s will feel like ape hangers, with the stock bars. I like the four's a great combo with your seat. GG.
