Recently got back from an 1800 mile trip down to Mississippi. Left last Wednesday and returned home Memorial Day. Went with a buddy of mine who has a V-Star 1100. One of the days there we rode the Natchez Trace and continued up to Vicksburg to tour the National Military Park (where the Union Army ultimately took control of the Mississippi River). Encountered some beautiful country down there. Thought I'd share a few pictures.
First pic is on the Trace. Picture with the bridge is overlooking the Mississippi River. The other ones are all inside the Military Park. The final pic is the USS Cairo - which was sunk by a confederate torpedo in 1862. First warship in history to be sunk by an electronically detonated mine. It was raised in 1964.
Averaged 40 mpg loaded down with gear. Hit a high of 55 mpg one leg of the trip back (wind was at our backs, and we were taking it easy). The X performed flawlessly. Got a lot of use out of the highway pegs and cruise control!
