I just bought a 2002 VTX 1800 about 3 weeks ago so I’m not too familiar with it yet. So what’s going on is I was doing a sort of “deep clean” so I partially removed the rear fender to clean underneath and disconnected all the rear wires from the quick connects in the process, afterward I go to ride it and it won’t start but the F1 light is flashing. After doing a little research I figured out it was flashing code 12, so a possible rear injector issue, but I got nowhere the injector harness and I just rode it to the store to get cleaning supplies less than an hour earlier. So basically I’m dumbfounded. Anyone have any idea?

Could be a miswiring when you put it back together or a blown fuse. I would start with those and only look for more complex causes when the easier things to check do not pan out. When a problem occurs immediately after messin' with something, it is always a great idea to check on the something with which you were just messin' :)

I looked at wiring diagrams and made sure 3 times I had everything back together correctly. So that’s why I’m really lost here.

It's a 2002. A couple things that go wrong with these, rather than later years. Search : Ground fix. After that, Make sure the battery has a full charge, and take it to a auto parts place that will do a 100 amp automotive load test, NOT a motorcycle 15 or 20 amp load test. These are steps 1 and 2. Eliminate those and we can go from there. The 1800's with the electronic fuel injecton are very critical about having a fully functioning electrical system. I took a tip from the PO of my ride and have had it on a Battery Tender jr. since I bought it 9 years ago. Between he and I, we got over 12 years out of the '03 battery, and I replaced it 'just because it was time', not because it went bad. If replacing same, stick with a YUASA. Don't go cheap, or fancy, or 'race car hype'.
