2 Day Tech Session

Hey y'all. As you know we've been talking up a tech session here. Well, it's coming. Tech session will be held Saturday and Sunday October 15-16th, 2011 at Bucks Down Racing, 375 Roberts Road, Oldsmar, FL 34677. http://bucksdowntampa.com/index.htm

Now we all have to decide what exactly we would like to have done to our bikes. I'll ask for you to keep it as simple as possible, just to be fair to everyone.

Seems like steering head bearings are gonna be the hot topic of the day. If anyone has experience doing these, that would be awesome. We need to know what special tools we need to accomplish them and if anyone has them.

As far as other things that may be possible, Pair valve removal, ground fix, progressive front springs, permanent a/f screw install, possibly even re-jetting a carb, Clayton mod drilling.......etc.

If anyone has any others, let us know. Just remember the time frame we have and look up how long it takes to complete what you want done. Everyone is going to be responsible for bringing all supplies and parts for their work or working it out with Glenn to have them shipped in. I'm sure Mike has some things like fluids at his shop, but that will be up to everyone to check with Glenn on this.

The other thing we could use is lifts and stands, for you local guys. The shop has 2 lifts, I am bringing my lift and possibly Jojo's stand. John has said he will bring his lift and stand if he can bring it early, that way he can ride to the tech session. I will have my basic tools that I carry in the bike. Anyone can bring their own tools, and I ask everyone to be respectful of others tools and the shop itself.

Glenn and Mike, the shop owner, are being gracious enough to offer up some BBQ and the shop space. Let's make sure we show them what a great bunch of people we are. I spoke with Glenn and decided it would be best to have zero alcohol at the tech session. Sorry if anyone doesn't like that, but with others bikes up on lifts and being worked on, and it being at someones shop, I would hate to have something happen if things got careless. There will be plenty of time for "Miller time" after the work is done. Please respect this decision.

Let's get this thing going and weigh in with any comments or suggestions. thank you.

Almost forgot, this is the list of local hotels and 4 of them are within about a mile of the shop. A, C, D, and E are the 4. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&pr...e&ved=0CAQQtgM

Woody-I'll pick up the stand and your jack so your can ride your bike...and if I pick up a jack by then I will bring that also. I'll be trailering mine due to not trusting it on the interstate, so if anyone is between St. Pete and the shop and need me to haul tools or something let me know.

John-If you need me to I will take a ride up your way to pick up your jack and stand so you can ride the your bike.
:hmm2:..... :icon_susp only 1200 miles one way:icon_susp lets see what i can do:choppersm

Sounds cool Joe, although WE are gonna get those shock bushings on way before that to see if it helps. I just picked up stuff for an oil change, and as soon as I get that done, hopefully tomorrow afternoon, you can pick up the jack and stand and maybe if you have time this weekend I can come down and we'll get them done.

LOL, we'll see.
woody, howdy pardner. first i'd like to say to all, "i'm excited about this"
so good to know we finally got one of these going.

when we first started this, i had mentioned my steering bearings. i also need the fork dust seals replaced, and since all that is going to be off, i figured change the front fork fluid also. ride is rough and a bit wobbly up front.

is there going to be an order of who's going to be doing what first?
i only have some standard tools myself. however, i'm willing to spend the day turning bolts, changing oil(this i do know how to do, lol), in other words helping out with the little i know, offering my hands, not only to assist working on mine (which i'll need expert help) but to help others out.
i say this, since i've never experienced a tech session so dont know how things take place, the order of things as such.

glad you guys have made it 2 days, hopefully be able to get everything that everyone needs accomplished.

thanks brother for all the work you, Glenn, MIke and John, Jojo and others are doing...:choppersm :patriot:

This will be a learning experience for all of us Luis. We'll take it as it comes and try to get all the important things accomplished. Thanks really go to Glenn and his buddy Mike for getting this turned into a 2 day tech. I'm sure there may be some that show up who have been to a tech session somewhere. Maybe we can gain some insight from them.

Luis- so I'm assuming you're coming to this?? That's great. We get to meet-it'll be a little family reunion.... AND you get a Gibb slap. ;) :bleh:
i couldn't pass this up. it'll be good to meet some of the folks and get together with you and Amaury for a bit, thanks for the "love":icon_wink

i told my cousin Ernie, who's still up in Jersey how me and Amaury (Ernie is the other one in that picture from about 48 years ago)had run into each other on here, and he was amazed. take care...
Will be glad to have ya Luis. :mosh:
hey woody, check this out. when Traci stated that she was going to have her husband come on this site, and i saw his name, well, it's not a common one. long story short, i contacted him, since that was 2nd cousins name. his grandfather and my grandmother were brothers. through the cafe we've connected. haven't had a chance to see each other in person, but hope to do so at the tech session. if money wasn't an issue it would have happened already. check this photo out it's from around 66, we were still up in NJ at that time. imagine that...:mosh::D:coffee:
i'm on the left, Amaury, our other cousin Ernie!
Very cool Luis. I kinda got the story from seeing the posts and Traci told me some. That's awesome. Hope you get to hook up sooner than that.
Start chiming in folks, don't be shy. LOL
At this point I don't have anything to do to the bike, at least nothing I can afford right now.
I will be there though, to help out in any way needed.
Cant wait. I have to wait but it's hard! Going to be nothing but good times.
