Hey everyone,
I just bought an 1800c with 5,650 original miles. Previous owner installed Vance & Hines BigShots pipes and a tuner. I plan too, over time, probably all but rebuild this bike. But I'm riding it as well. This bike runs like a champ. But it's running rich, from the smell of it. I took it to a friend of mine at the Honda dealership and he gave me some inside info that the FPR valves are a known weak point as the rubber they used for the reservoir is a problem. I'm getting a total of 55-60 miles, PER TANK (4.8g) right now. I don't know how active this forum is these days as I'm new here. But, I figured I would see what you guys had to say. Dealership told me I would be doing well too get over 100 miles per tank with the pipes on it. Idk. Could use some guidance. Thanks!

Welcome from central Pa. high atop the Alleghenies. The FPR has a diaphragm in it that cracks due to age, not any miles or riding conditions. Running rich is a sign. A better sign is rough starting, idling, surging or erratic running down the hiway. Pull your dipstick, if it reads over-full or has a strong fuel smell, there's yer sign! Honda will sell you one for around $40. You are correct you should get ~100 miles per tank or so before your fuel light comes on. You may need to make sure your 'tuner' is doing its job as well. If you disconnect it the stock computer will revert to taking control no problem.
