I recently got back into riding and bought an 1800s. Bike looks awesome and was told it had been stored for a few years so probably had bad gas... After many tanks and using multiple bottles of carb cleaner it still hesitates, backfires and all around runs like crap when I drive less than 60mph. I've brought it to multiple shops and have replaced the plugs, checked and changed the fuel filter, and hoses but nothing has worked. It has an aftermarket big air intake and aftermarket straight pipes. I've been told to find oem air intake but at a loss. Any used out there?

First step would be to check and make sure that it has had the ground fix performed. Honda powder coated the grounding points where the harness grounds to the frame by the coils. Need to pull those grounds and file the powder coat off and clean the contacts. What do the plugs look like when you pull them? Is it burning lean? If there have been extensive mods to the airbox and exhaust, you may also need a fuel manager. When I changed my mufflers I had a problem with hesitation and surging. I got a Cobra FI200R, with the factory harness connectors rather than the wire taps. It took care of my mixture problems by enrichening the low rpm mixture. I left the mid-range and upper RPM mixtne [/QUOTThanks for the response. Plugs look good. Front left looked slightly burnt when I first got it but it was also loose. Replaced all and they're staying clean. I'll tell the honda shop to check the ground. I'll also try to find the fuel manager as well. Thank you very much!!
