Sounds like B.S. to me. I just bought a new VTX 1800 R Spec 2 (2006 model) 2 weeks ago. Last week I put on a Memphis Shades Fats windshield on it. I did have to do some searching for the mounting kit, since this model has the covered forks, but Dennis Kirk had them in stock and I had it the next day. One detail about the mounting kit instructions though. It said to put the lower clamps directly above the lower triple tree, which can be done, but the windshield won't fit with the clamp that low. The lower clamp has to sit above the turn signal housing clamp instead. Then everything fits just right. I bought the 21" high windshield with the 9" cutout for the headlight. I'm 6'-1" and the height is ideal. I can just see over the top of the windshield. :choppersm

I purchased a 2006 1800C Spec3 in August. Installed National Cycle 2 up Switchblade. They have an install kit for the oversize forks. Everything worked perfect.

Love the windshield. Took a thrown rock from an oncoming truck about the size of golf ball on it about two weeks ago going about 70-75 mph. What a pop, scared the p _ _ out me. Left a little white mark where it hit. Wiped right off with a paper towel and some glass cleaner. Not a trace.

Guys I have a Spec 2. I want a small wind shield on mine. So please post pics so I can get an idea of how yours looks. I want a 14"W X 15"H if anyone knows where I can find one.

i have a1800n spec 2 it took 4 weeks to the brackets in
the bottom bracket had to be on top the turn signal housing
to put a memphis shades on

 

The Spec 3 forks are larger because they have the chrome covers on them. Call whoever you are ordering the windshield from and tell them you have the Spec 3 fork covers and need the correct mounting brackets. if they act like they don't know what you are talking about, hang up and call someone else.

 

I have a 2007 1800R Spec3 - Installed the Honda Windshield and the Honda Lightbar - No problems - took me about 45 min.
