Heartland Animal Shelter updated their events page to include their Hogs for Dogs Ride. It is Sunday, Sept 18, 2011. Registration starts at 9:30am and takes off at 10:30. Here is the link to their page:

I rode in this the every year and it is a blast. They average 200 bikes. In the past, it was an 85 mile ride. Pit stop about 1/2 way through. Ride ends at Hide Outs in Island Lake. Includes lunch, live band and a raffle (nice prizes too). Also a scavenger hunt which is much easier if you have a passenger to write down the answers to the questions.

They usually break the bikes into 2 groups. It is escorted but not police escort so you do have to follow the rules of the road. There are blockers at intersections (legality is questionable, but it works).

Wife and I will be signing up shortly. Would be nice to get a nice X contingent riding in the event. Let's see how many X riders commit. Depending on the size, I have a few ideas.

I'm going to do my best to attend this but I can't confirm for sure until we are closer to the event.

If I can go, I'd be happy to be apart of that X contingent. :)

Pricing Update

Just received another email from my neighbor. Seems they decided to change things a bit. Here is a cut/paste from his mail:

"We are actually changing the Hogs for Dogs pricing this year, as a passenger, child or someone who just attends the Sideouts party will be $10….

$25 for a rider and a group of 5 or move would be $20 per person….

The intent is to have more people attend the Sideouts party and bid on raffle prizes…..

Hope that gives everyone the info they need. If we can get a group together, maybe we can meet up ahead of time and ride in together. Would love to see a large X contingent at the event. Give some of the HD guys something to talk about. My neighbor will be there with his '72 Triumph. And there are also a few Victorys that show up. Who's in?

Is anyone else definitely going Sunday. Afternoon weather looks pretty crappy right now. Hope that changes. Post if you are. Maybe we can meet prior or even go out for breakfast.

Hello Pete,
Sorry about the late notice. We won't be able to make it this year due to a memorial we have to go to in the mid morning. Enjoy the ride. Let us know how it was :(

Hey Pete, sorry for the late notice. I've been watching the weather but weather be damned, I'm in.

If it's not too late to meet up with your group let me know the details. Just where and when to meet you and I'll be there.

Thanks,
Frank
