2013 wv summer ride (for information only)
dates: july 5, july 6 and july 7

location: davy and welch, wv
those of you that have been to last years ride here know most of the new info about this year, but i have extended the ride to 3 days. there will be a special event to occur on saturday, so the actual ride will take place on friday and sunday. i know some probably wont be able to make it because of the 4th being the same week, and this being the "4th of july weekend" but i was asked to do it this weekend for a very special occasion and i agreed.
so now with the standard information...
the itinerary...hopefully most will arrive thursday night.
1. the pizza place we have had dinner at the last two years is now closed...so we will be doing dinner on thursday night at pizza hut in welch.
2. friday morning will be breakfast at the sterling drive followed by fridays ride (route will be posted when i make one)
3. after the ride will be the cookout at davy and giving out door prizes donated by generous sponsors.
4. saturday morning will be breakfast at the sterling drive in followed by a short ride and then to the special event.
5. sunday morning will be breakfast at the sterling drive in followed by sundays planned ride...after which everyone will go their own ways back home.

Final countdown. 8 weeks away. Time for the rest of all the last minute people to pony up. I know Jimmy wants to get this up to 150 riders or so...

Does anyone know if the Pocahontas has a microwave in the room. Planning on doing some cooking while I'm there to save money, but was unsure if they are geared up or knot...

Directions from Beckley to the Pocahontas Motel...
-Take exit 42 from interstate 64/77.
-Follow highway 97 to the town of Pineville.
-When you come to a “T” in Pineville, turn left on route 10.
-At the next intersection, turn left (staying on 10)
-About a mile and you will pass the school on your left...
----start looking for route 16 (right turn) towards Welch.
-About 15 miles and Pocahontas will be on the right.
----(when you pass the water tank with the mural, you are 2 miles away)
Directions from Bluefield to the Pocahontas Motel...
-Take exit 1 from interstate 77 (immediately after coming out of the second tunnel).
-End of the ramp turn right.
-Follow the signs for US Route 52 all the way to Welch (approximately 40 miles).
-When you go past Mcdonalds in Welch, stay right (52 business/Virginia Ave)
-In town, you will come to a “T” and can only turn right.
-About 1 mile you will come to a 3 way stop (hospital in front of you).
-Turn right...Pocahontas will be 6 miles on the left.
Directions from Beckley to Count Gilu Motel...
-Take exit 42 from interstate 64/77.
-Follow highway 97 to the town of Pineville.
-When you come to a “T” in Pineville, turn left on route 10.
-At the next intersection, turn left (staying on 10)

-Straight through Welch (no turns)...about 2.5 miles to a stop light, and turn right.
-Just through the underpass, turn left on Stadium Drive...

-Take exit 1 from interstate 77 (immediately after coming out of the second tunnel).
-End of the ramp turn right.
-Follow the signs for US Route 52 all the way to Welch (approximately 40 miles).
-At Mcdonalds in Welch, turn left onto Rt 52 Bypass. (3 lane going up the mountain)
-2 miles you will come to a traffic light...straight through the light.
-Just through the underpass, turn left on Stadium Drive...
----(There will be signs leading you to Count Gilu Motel.)

-Take exit 42 from interstate 64/77.

-0.7 miles turn left onto Virginia Ave. (Post office will be on your right)
-About 5 miles you will pass a Walmart on the right...
-Just past Walmart on the left will be the Big Four Motel.
Directions from Bluefield to Big Four Motel...
-Take exit 1 from interstate 77 (immediately after coming out of the second tunnel).
-End of the ramp turn right.
-Follow the signs for US Route 52 all the way to Welch (approximately 40 miles).
-After going through the town of Kimball, Big Four Motel will be 2 miles on the right.
Is this the same route if you are trailering your bike?
