Well it was a nice afternoon so I thought it would be nice to go for a little ride. Damn cager turned right in front of me and I could not avoid him. He hit me pretty much head on and thankfully I was only doing 20 miles an hour. after 5 hours in the ER and running every test known to man I came away with a badly bruised left shoulder and sprained left wrist and a broken right wrist.

Thankfully it was a small car and I flew over the car landing on my helmet and shoulder on the asphalt. I have not seen what my bike looks like yet or how bad the damage is. But it just pisses me off since the bike is only 2 months old with 400 miles on it. Thank God for helmets people!

Oh and the guy was charged with failure to yeild the right away and driving with no license. He was driving his borthers car so I guess I may be out of luck on insurance from him.

Oh, that sucks! Glad you are ok and I agree, helmets are a must for me. Hopefully his brother had insurance so maybe you will be ok. If you need any parts post up and maybe someone can help you out (if it's not too bad).

PS: Being a Paramedic I can tell you, tommorrow and the next few days (after you have been still for a few hours) you will become sore as hell and you will hurt bad. Make sure you have pain pills and take as needed.

Glad to hear you're overall OK and sorry to hear this happened. Charlie D brings up an excellent point--you can tap into your UM/UIM coverage on your own insurance if you can't find anyone coverage under the driver or vehicle owner's coverage. In most states, the insurance follows the car--so whoever owns it would hopefully have some liability coverage. Check into them for some med-pay coverage as well under their auto liability policy as well for your out of pocket expenses/bills.

Sorry to read about your accident. Remember that at least you'll be able to ride again.

It's an accident and poor judgement. Hopefully the driver will be aware next time to operate his vehicle properly.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.....

JH, a similar accident happened to me several months ago. I had no accidents for 32 years until one of these Florida Yahoos turned left in front of me. Minor damage to the bike, a few scratches to me. However, it did prompt me to change the mushy rubber brake lines to 32 strand stainless steel. I probably would not have hit the car if not for the mushy brakes on the VTX. Get well soon!!

Sorry to hear about the wreck. Hope that cat's in the gray bar motel. With the way you hit your'e really lucky to be able to type now. Since your'e in VA the guy's brother's coverage should cover your bike. It only takes about $1900.00 to make it a total loss claim. With a bike that new I'd make sure I got a new one instead of fixing the wrecked one. LOL

Push to get triple you medical bills from them. I was rear ended in a 6 months old Nissan Maxima. Had an attorney that reprosents insurance co. tell me this. That is what I got. Plus depreciation for the damage. Was 10,000.00 damage. Not 75% of value.

Sorry Rich. I know insurance is you game.

Sorry about your bike but most importantly you are still with us and can ride another day.

Glad you are doing as well as can be expected. Hope the reimbursements work ouy well (to your advantage) also. Ride safe. Statistically, I hear, new riders have an accident in the first six months of ownership. Hope you recover and are back riding soon.

Glad your OK

You know, I have a couple of friends (both Harley riders) that have tried to talk me into riding w/o a helmet. Everytime that I think about it, I hear another story like your. It's great to hear that you have no life threatening injuries. As much as it sucks, you can repair or replace the ride, not the rider. The best of luck to you.

thankfully, you are ok....I know you will be feeling the worst of it over the next few days.......listen to the doctors and cooperate so you get better as quickly as possible.....your hand/wrist will need some rehab, at the appropriate time.......make sure you do it so you can come back as strong as you are able......good news about wearing the helmet....everytime I put mine on, I consider what would happen if I didnt wear it......not a pretty thought.....I have too many friends who dont wear one.....they've been lucky so far......If you have any concerns about your injuries, feel free to ask me......it's what I do for a living!

I swear

I am sorry for you dude, I am glad you are pretty much ok. People are just stupid. I had a cager cut across four lanes of traffic and right in front of me this am on the way to work. then the MORON puts on his brakes to be funny, I am thinking about mounting a hidden paintball gun on my front end.
