VTX was origionally the name Honda gave for the V-twin on th 1800 and then the 1300. It stands for V Twin Experimental. The name stuck as the VTX

The Vanguard in the VTX line represents Power. A vanguard is supposed to be like a Mythical Knight . How Honda actually came up with this for the VTX is unknown. I have tried to seach for the answere to this question myself, but have come up empty.

When you do a search for the VTX it will alway come up with VTXtreme or something like that. It is now the common name we see all the time, but the x is for experimental. With that in mind we all know it is an exteme machine:choppersm
