When I started riding again (a few years back) a woman with a cell phone in her hand pulled out in front of me. After a few choice words, a shocked daughter and a low budget, I decided to put some blinding lights, (Optronics 55w Pair Driving Light Kit http://www.walmart.com/ip/16680058?...39618152&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=78652939592&veh=sem) on the front of my VLX:

After this mod, I didn't have anyone pull out again. (Knock on wood!)
I did the same mod to my 1800R but made the mistake of telling a member with a 1300C to try it. Apparently the fender clearance isn't the same when hitting a bump.
I have had this mod for quite a while but have been waiting for an led replacement bulb. I found one that has the same lumens as the 50 watt Halogen but only 4 watts:

Probably don't need my voltage regulator anymore....

I just needed to remove the ceramic plug inside the light fixture for clearance:

Drool over my new LED!

Used some bullet connectors. Crimped them to fit the pins tight and heat shrinked tubed them.

I mounted one to the bike (Right one).

Then compared it with the Halogen:

I'm still seeing spots, but both lights seem to be the same intensity!

Hope this helps those of us with limited budgets!

Good job, Terry! Great pix! I picked up a pr. of LED driving lights to mount to my engine guards, last Sat. @ Iron Pony. No pix here, haven't mounted 'em yet, but they were called Quake brand, Rogue model. Twin LED in each unit.

I like that setup !!!!! 5 lights so close together, you definitely look different to oncoming traffic.

Nice job. Do you need really small hands to put those on?
Small hands do help!

Looking forward to seeing them!

That setup looks great too. In fact, I looked at those exact lights before deciding I wanted something just a bit different for mine. The ones I got are in a black almost rectangular housing, and can be mounted either vertical or horizontal with the P clamps I got for the engine guards. Haven't decided yet which I'll try.
