Hey everyone I need some help! :banghead: I am considering a Barons Big Air Kit for my X. It's a 2006 1300 C with stock air box and filter and Hard Krome pipes. I'm pretty sure i will need to jet the carb when i install the kit, but is that all??????? I'm also probably gonna do the pair valve mod * not sure if that's the correct name of it* while I'm in there doing the other. ANY and ALL help or tips would be greatly appreciated!!!!! :)

Thanks in advance, Will

May not need to rejet. I would try the SCAR mod first. It will only cost you a few cents for the washers to put under the needle. 2 or 3 washers may do the trick. Worse case is that you have to rejet later...and only use factory pro jets. All others are crap. Definately do the PAIR mod. If you don't know how go to goheengarage.com. He has a step by step video of it. While you working on the carb, I would install Glen's permanent a/f screw. You can fine tune the carb with this tool so easily. Hope this helps...

Baraon's BAK comes with the jets for your carb..Use those and the bike will run just fine...The Factory Pro kit is better, but Baron's did the research and got the right ones in their kit....SCAR mod is NOT gonna be adequate for the BAK, which is known to be one of the best flowing air filter setups made...

If the pipes were on the bike when you got it, there's a very good chance that the PAIR valve system has already been removed....Only way to know for sure is to pull the tank and look though....At the tech session we had here a few weeks ago, another cafe member wheeled his bike into the garage to do the PAIR removal, and when the tank was pulled, it already had the block-off plates on the heads...

Unless something has changed since I bought mine (about two years ago) the jets that come with the BAK kit are just as crappy as the rest of them out there. I did keep the shorter spring that came with it. The rest was thrown out.

If you're going to rejet with that big breather Factory Pro is the way to go. Do it right the first go round.

No personal experience, just going off older posts Charlie D has made about that intake (he has same one), and the jets that came with it...

I may be wrong but I think he was running a modified jet (drilled out) in there when he had that set up in there. You know how he likes to "tinker". lol
Yeah I kinda remember that now that you bring it up...He's done so many "experiments" it's tough for the rest of us to keep up with him!!...lol..

One thing we can all agree on is the FP kit is the only one worth a crap for a VTX...

THANK YOU for the advice. Sounds like I've got some research to do and parts to find. I also agree with BassDude! If it's worth doing it's worth doing right the first time. I'm gonna track down a FP jet kit and make sure everything else is lined up before I get started. It's to nice here in SC to tear down my X and not be able to ride because I'm waiting on some part. If anyone else has some two cents to toss in, by all means please do. Thanks again guys!!! I really appreciate the help!!! :D

The BAK will work okay with the jets they supply if you run the rain cover 100% of the time.

Notice I said okay not great

I did end up drilling a jet larger and then going to the 60 pilot jet, never could get the needle in the perfect position, if I tuned at 70* out it wouldn't run at 40* and if I tuned for 40* then at 70* out it was rich.

Factory pro works great from 30* to our highs here of 95*

Follow the instructions in this post by Charlie when you go to tune it: http://www.vtxcafe.com/showpost.php?p=545145&postcount=1

That will get you tuned up pretty well.
