Well, I am embarrest to say, That I laid the bike down in a parking lot. I was cut off, which sent me toward a curb ( they kept going, of corse.), I hit the breaks and laid the bike on its side. The plan was to get up, #*& a little, and ride away. Except I snapped my fibula, clean. Along with a few metatarsals. I was facing east, my foot was facing south. I called 911 on my cell. I went to O.R. and now am out for about two mo. Honda Riders Club did every thing they said they would. Brought my bike right to my house. Everyone keeps asking, are you going to keep riding? Does a fish swim? It was stupid, it happens. Now I obviously need to sign up for a refresher corse, Which I plan on doing as soon as i'm done hopping around here. I will keep you posted. As I will be here a lot, since can't ride for a while.

Damn, sorry to hear that. I find it funny people ask that when you crash on a bike but not if you crash on a car...why? lol

What's the damage to the bike?

I took a long ride Saturday and Sunday, almost got hit twice, once on the highway when a van started to come into my lane and once in the mountians in a curve when a car was going to fast and was cutting the corners.

stay safe and take care of that leg!

You were cut-off and then he rode away. Some day the driver will have something happen to him and he'll wonder why.

Glad to hear you will get back up on your bike. Really sorry to hear about the misshap and hope you leg mends properly.

Tim, bummer on the leg......fortunately, it's fixable, as is the bike.....listen to your doc cause he knows more about this than you do....and take good care of yourself....now you'll have more time to go thru the net and look for more goodies for the bike.....afterall, you must give it some love!!!!

Highway bars... when I dropped my bike at slow speed, stretched some ligamets... cost me about a month... learned never ever to brake and turn at the same time at slow speed, at least front brake... learned that highway bars would have saved me a bunch of money in other chrome parts... messed up my windshield, front fender, right mirror, and was embarassed that the darned thing trapped my ankle and I couldn't extract myself... other reason not to bike alone... a buddy and I were on our way to Patagonia and I made a wrong turn and hastened to correct... stupid thing to do!

Good luck with the ankle and ride safe!

Thx

Thanks for the happy thoughts. Leg is on the mend. This little spill is turning out to be a big pain. Ins totalled the bike:mad: The shop said frame is bent. Ho well, I have my sites on an 1800. This has been an absolute learning experiance. I broke a lot of riding rules: I parked in lot, not on the walk; I didn't wait until cars pulled out, we know they are never looking, and this was after a movie; I didn't go out the way I came in. All no no's. So here I sit:nope: Everyone thinks this is the end of the world, at least the women in my life, and want me to give up riding. I don't think I can do that.
I'm bummed that I am going to mis all the holiday rides. If anyone goes, I would like to hear about it.

Anyway, be safe, and watch out for eachother. I will be back in the saddle soon enough. Peace:choppersm  pls don't drink and ride :drunk: :nono:

just human nature to possibly shy away from something that injured you. My wife went down on her first bike and it took her a year before she would ride behind me and another 6 mos after taking the MSF course to start riding her own again. good luck and heal well.
