I have been transforming a 1800c into a 1800 interstate (touring bike). It has been a most interesting project. I am getting close to being finished. I got the bike rideable today and went on a short ride. the bike has been taken apart since the end of sept... I added progressive 11.5" shocks and the difference is wow. The hoppe fairing gets a thumb's up. Not only does it block the wind really well but also keeps most ot the wind off of your hands good. This is the first time I have done rewire where everything worked right the first time, did have to readjust the rear brake switch but I had changed out the pegs and added the retro floor boards. It seems to handle much better than my 1300 retro, very smooth and handles like a dream. Can't wait untill my saddle bags retrun so I can finish up and take a good long ride. The bike cranked right up and ran smoooothe. :icon_peac :icon_caff

Looks great dirtdobber!
I'm looking forward to seeing more photos as you get them and post on X Cruisers.
I just made another parts run today on my wing.
Nice weather here today in the high 50's. It rained early this morning but cleared up, at least long enough for a short 50 mile round trip to the next town over. Coming back, I was glad I was on a bike which enabled me to split traffic in the early evening commute mess. I'm glad I don't normally get involved in that anymore.

I did 370 miles today with the Patriot Riders Group. My first long trip since installing the Progressive 11.5 412's. On a shorter ride, about 15 miles, I didn't really like the new shocks due to the vibration it allowed to enter the seat. However, after cranking them to the 4th stiffest position, I have found them to be oh-so-excellent! Ripples are nonexistent, bumps are ripples and potholes no longer bottom me out. At 6'2" and 240, that's the best thing about them. Didn't bottom out once today.

Something that greatly affects your ride with new shocks is break in. They need a couple hundred miles before you feel their true ride.

:hmm2: I tried to ride this past weekend but I failed to free my steep driveway of treacherous ice...so no go for this boy! However, the weather is warming and I'm hopeful! :)

Warmer weather is on the way, just not today. Spring is closer today than yesterday. There will be rain all weekend in north alabama. Old timers forcast for Feb. overcast skies and windy :patriot: :hmm2:
