I just got mine last week from vikings bags and put it on myself and yes it took me a lot of time. I had to do it twice cus one side was higher than the other, then one side was angle differently it was frustrating and i did by myself with no help. It took me 4 hours then another 3 hours to correct me mistakes. Yes i had more hole than wanted too. the correct bolts are M8-1.25-70mm and M10-1.25-70mm (bolt size-pitch/tread size-length) try to get stainless steel. I got some at home depot but they dont have stainless steel i going to use as temp. till i find the correct ones .A LOT OF PATIENT MY FRIEND. i used the brackets that come with it but not the bolts, it dont fit.
Anyone installed Viking Hard Mount Saddlebags on VTX 1300C?
I'm looking at these bags, among others, on the Viking website: Link Being a newbie, I'm concerned about installation. The website indicates that the included hardware permits installation without any protective brackets (for hard mount installation, not throwover). I'm skeptical, but don't know enough, so I'm looking for some direction and advice from folks who've actually installed some of the saddlebags from Viking (they seem to use the same hardware for all of their bags).
