Don't know how they hold up on the VTX but just about everyone that had them on a Gold Wing hated them. Some complained they wobbled bad, some complained they came apart and some complained they just had no traction. They are a cheap tire, you get what you pay for. IF the one for VTX is a good tire I'm sure someone will post a positive remark.

Got one being delivered real soon for the front. Read a lot of positive comments and a few negative ones -- kind of like with any other tire. I'm interested because I have a very positive experience with Yokohama m/c tires in the past. Shinko bought out their m/c tire operation, molds, rubber compounding, etc etc. Hoping for better results than 7 to 8K on the Avon Venom X I've been running. Will post results later down the road. PS: It's a Shinko 230......................tom

I just purchased a set of 777 for front and back (the WW version). One because the front looked like it was cupping and needed replacement. The other cuz I wanted to try out the look of white walls on my ride and this was a bit cheaper. Will be getting them mounted soon. We'll see how they turn out.

I put 230's on my old VT1100C, one of the best tires i've used and I've tried a lot of them. Wet traction and handling were very good. Most evenings in the summer i would wind up riding home in the rain down the mountain on I-26 from Hendersonville. Soon as I put a couple more miles on these D404's I 'm going to put a set of Shinkos on, either 230's or 777's if i can find them. Shinko used to be Yokohama's motorcycle tire division. They sold out to Shinko a few years back.

Louis, I have a set of Shinko 230's on my X and so far they've handled great on wet and dry roads but only have a couple hundred miles on them. As of July 31st..we will be headed to Sturgis and I'm taking the X so by the first week in Aug. I'll know how they do in the twisties. I am also running ride-on in front and rear tires.

I put a 230 on the front of my 1800 this year. It handles wet pavement @ 80mph just fine. I have close to 5k on it so far. I run a darkside on the rear.

Got out today for 70 miles or so. Scrubbed the new off the Shinko 230 front. First impressions are very good: doesn't jar as much as the Avon in bumps, sticks good in a curve at speed, quiet, 2.5 oz of dynabeads made for a really good balance, handlebars remain smooth and straight. Looking forward to adding some miles and seeing how it goes.
My semi-retired former bike shop mechanic/owner says he likes the 777 a little better because of the tread pattern. He uses them on his Goldwing.

i had forgotten to get back and reply to this, sorry. haven't been riding too much, have put only about 800 miles on her, she's handling real well. used the little square weights some places aer using, instead of beads. good on turns, rain (and i know about this...) is handled great by this tire. i keep it at around 40, along with darkside 40-41, also had tightened the steering bearings down and she rides like a dream, even when letting go of bars and cruising, and also on decel from 55-35...

Got over 500 miles on my 230 now and still looks great. Handles really good. Of course, most any new set of tires feels great at first (car/truck or bike). I'm liking the even wear pattern too. Running 38 psi. So far, the performance + the price is a real winner.
