I've been using the audiovox cruise for several years with no problems. Recently it began working intermittently. I had a new switch, so I installed it yesterday; still a no go. I've checked all of the wiring, everything seems to check good and there doesn't seem to be any vacuum leaks. Anyone have any ideas. This is so frustrating, I've become so accustomed to using it!:banghead:
thanks

Check for good power connections (power to the vacuum module and power to on/off buttons on the bar), and also check for a good connection to your brake light wire. If the connection to the brake light is poor and the cruise doesn't see the resistance of the light bulb, it wont work.

Also, maybe your rear brake switch is sticking (I had that happen one day) and that is keeping you from being able to 'set' the cruise.

If nothing else maybe it's just broke :bleh:

Good luck and let us know.

I removed the purple wire from the brake and grounded it to the frame just to rule it in or out....still no go. I've checked all of the connections and tested voltage - looks good. I will most likely do a complete test again next weekend, but I'm beginning to think that something is wrong with the servo.

take the wiring harness from the servo unit off and look at it.....it may have been getting wet......if there's green stuff there...that's the case..clean it up real good.....I ended up cutting off the harness and reattaching the wires one at a time with phone connectors......that has been the source of my problems over the years....if you do cut off the harness...save it for future reference....

Thanks....I'll give that a try this afternoon after work.

Well Epiphysis,
I checked the connections...they are bright and shiny. I'll try it out tomorrow since reseating it - just maybe that'll work. If not, I'm going to go through all of my wiring again.

The servo connection has given me problems a couple times. I also flip the switches back and forth occasionally to make sure they're getting good contact. An undetectable pinhole can cause the unit to not function. Run the bike to get vacuum in the canister. Let it sit overnight then unplug the vacuum hose. Does it still have vacuum? If not, you have a leak somewhere.

Well, I'm really at a loss now! Canister is holding a good vacuum. Wiring is all good. I attached the purple wire to the frame for ground to eliminate any possible issue with the brake light. I've flipped the switches in the servo back and forth to reseat them. I then watched the diagnostic led on the servo board while using the buttons on the pad. here's what I saw:
led is off when the bike is started.
led begins to blink when i depress the 'on' button on the pad.
led is interrupted when I depress set or accel, then begins to blink again
led goes off when i depress 'off'
Just don't know what I should do next...any more ideas???:banghead:

I can't stand to let something whip me like this, but I'm at my wits' end. Here's what I've done. A fellow rider sent me a link to the manual for the ccs100 with diagnostics sheet.
1. I've checked all of the voltages at the control switch/4 pin connector in the headlight.....check.
2. I've checked all of the voltages at the 10 pin connector inside the servo unit...check.
3. I've checked vacuum...check.
4. I disconnected the purple wire from the brake and grounded it to the frame just to rule out anything with the brake light...check
5. I checked the ac voltage coming from the blue wire (goes to the coil)...voltage increases as rpms increase...check.
6. I pulled the tank and made sure that the cable to the throttle was not pinched or bound....check.
7. I've also checked the connection for the 10 pin connector to the servo board..all is bright and shiny.
8. I flipped the dip switches on the servo board several times just to make sure that one of them was not seated as it should be.

When I attempt to use the cruise control there is no kind of response at all. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm wondering if there is just something wrong with the servo/board.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Vacuum is good, cable to the throttle is good, I've checked every fuse I could think of... I took the servo unit apart early this morning just to do a visual inspection. don't see any thing burnt or cracked.

Stupid is as Stupid does!

I got good and frustrated and decided to take all of the cruise components off my bike. Upon putting everything back to stock a ran across the possible culprit....a loose electrical connection that didn't show itself while I was in the garage testing. Let's just say that it should have been obvious. It's too hot and I'm tool lazy to reinstall it now:banghead:

well, at least you have the satisfaction of knowing what was wrong.......in my experience, the electrical connections are loose because of a connector instead of soldering the connection.........do that the next time you put wires together!!!!
