Looking at buying a backrest for my 08 1800 bike, found one that is adjustable but it didnt say anything about being detachable? A buddy of mine has one for his harley and it disconnects real easy, I was wondering if all of them are like this or if anyone knows a good one to get that is easily detachable. thanks

Paladin makes a detachable backrest using their Quickset Mounting Hardware. It is expensive!

man looks nice but as you guys stated looks pricey. might just go with the standard backrest and take the few extra minutes to just unbolt it if I want to take it off.

Paladin is the way to go for sure, that's the way I'm planning on going as well. But if you're a bit frugal, you could always "slot" the holes in the brackets, then all you have to do is loosen the bolts instead of removing them all together. Just a thought....

Would like to see what you end up with, have an 08 F also and am looking for a back rest/rack so I can hang a bag on it.

ended going with the palidan backrest. very pleased with it and very simple installation.
