Hi Guys,

I experience clanking metal sound from exhaust when on idle. I heard opinion the source of that can be baffles (I have stock ones).
Have anybody experience something similar?
I read other threads about Big Shots and complete removal of baffles is discouraged by most of you.

Thanks in advance,

Could be baffles. The baffle screw might have fallen out and the baffle is now loose. Unfortunately the baffle screw isn't accessible with the heat shields on. Take a stick, put it in the ends of the pipes and gently stir it around. If the baffle is loose, you should hear it. Also, check the nuts that hold the pipes to the jugs. Maybe one of those is loose. After that, just a careful check of all the fasteners.

Hope that helps. Ride Safe:choppersm

I was just ready to post nearly the same question. I put on the V&H bigshot with baffles and at about 35 mph in 3rd gear I notice a metalic "banging" rattle sound coming from the pipes. Sound is coming from somewhare in the area of the baffles. If I blip the throttle up or down it stops. Other than that I love the bigshots. Dean

I just went out to the garage and started the bike. When I get the rpms up to about the same range as the above post it is actually a popping/ backfire exaust sound. So my sound has nothing to due with the pipes being loose. Would the pair valve block help?

I pulled the stock baffles out of my big shots and wouldn't dream of going back. Just make sure that if you do you get some torque cones for the header, these motors weren't designed to run with no back pressure
