Best States for Road Surface

I live in Missouri and occasionally hear people complaining about our roads. One thing I have learned is to be thankful. Riding a motorcycle to many different states I have found Missouri roads to be better than most.

From your experience what state has the best road surface? I’m specifically speaking about secondary (two lane) highways.

My top three are Missouri, Tennessee and Arkansas.

what say you? And while you are at it, what is the best road you have ever ridden when you combine curves, low traffic and smooth surface?

I have no opinion on which states have the best quality of road surfaces. The best road I have been on for curves, low traffic, scenery, and road surface quality is the Cherohala Skyway in both TN and NC. It does not have super tight turns like the Dragon. These make me feel like I am back in Motorcycle Safety Foundation class doing figure eights in a small box. Instead, it is full of great sweeping curves where you can drag steel (on a VTX) at 60 mph.

West Virginia has endless amounts of great roads for curves and mountains, unfortunately the quality of road maintenance is pretty lacking quite often.
Love the roads, hate the quality

I've ridden the CS a couple of times. It is less famous than the dragon but a much better ride. I've been on the dragon a few times too but I mostly leave it to the sport bikes. One of my favorite roads is the Pig Trail in NW Arkansas. Highway 7 that runs through Jasper AR is a good road as well.

Pa. has 4 seasons: Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Construction or Pothole. Seriously, the roads around my immediate area where most of my riding or driving are done, is not too bad.
Florida has lousy riding. Almost all the roads are straight and flat but the quality of the roads seems pretty good. Well, at least I-10, I-95 and the roads in the central third of the state.
