Hi everyone! On Sunday, August 28th, 2011 the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, FL Chapter 29 is sponsoring a Police Escorted Benefit Ride through Osceola County. I'd like to invite all of you to join us, whether you are a Blue Knight member or not!!

John does not know about this ride-so far, we are trying to keep it a surprise!! (internet might blow that but we are trying to get the word out as many places as possible.

Registration begins @ 8:30am. KSU @ 10am. Registration, the start & the end of the ride will be held @ St. Cloud Police Dept. in Osceola County, FL. There will be raffles, food and beverage vendors, live band, a great ride and a great afternoon get together!
The ride is to benefit Motorman Officer John Colley of the St. Cloud Police Department, who several weeks ago was involved in an on-duty motorcycle accident. He was riding code 3 to a car accident when a vehicle pulled out from a side rode and hit him. John and his bike were ejected up and over the vehicle. John sustained serious injuries to his legs but thankfully no internal or permanent damage. Can't say the same for his bike. After several surgeries John is wheel-chair bound for a minimum of 6months. He lives with his mother, who, on the same day as his accident, just returned home from major surgery herself and is very ill. As many of you may or may not know-workman's comp only pay 66% of your salary and he has no other income coming in.

Registration is $20 per bike-including a passenger if you have one (it is not $20 per person but per bike) and it also includes a food and beverage ticket to your choice of BBQ hot dogs and/or hamburgers; again-including your passenger if you have one.

One of the raffles is for a Civil War Commemorative .22 Revolver presented in a laser etched wooden case complete with a second cylinder and synthetic ivory grips with the FL State Flag. Those raffle tickets are $10 each and only 300 are being sold. 100% of the proceeds go to John. You do not have to be present to win, and, if you do win and wish not to have that particular gun, the owner of Signal Zero Supplies (donating the gun) has generously offered to give you your choice of any gun equal in value to that of the revolver. There will also be a 50/50 raffle where the winner receives 50% of the winnings and John gets the rest. There are drawings for ride training...ride as well as a motorman...and lots more!

The route will begin @ SCPD, down Kissimmee Park Road to Canoe Creek Road South to 441-N to Hwy 192 to Narcoossee Road to Rummel Rd to St. Cloud's gorgeous Lakefront Rd and back to the police department. This is a completely escorted by 3 local law enforcement agencies, the motor units. There will be appropriate road blocks and assistance.

All food and beverages are being donated so all proceeds will go to John. There will be additional vendors on property as well. Full bathrooms are available (not port-a-potties)

I can offer some good hotel/motel references if you wish and, I have a spare pull out couch, air mattress, a queen size bed and plenty of floor space for 2-8 people. You don't even have to share a bathroom with us as we have 2 full baths.

Please feel free to reply or PM me with any questions. I'd love for those of you who are able to join us, to do so!!

This sounds awesome Traci. What a great benefit. Sounds like it will be a great day. I will talk to Beth and see if we can swing that. We are both off on Sundays so it shouldn't be a problem if we don't have prior commitments.

Yeah, we're all over this one, and I'm trying to get moved to day shift so I may not even have to work Saturday nights much longer. Here's hoping. If not, I know where to get Red Bull. LOL

****update***

Hi everyone. I really appreciate you jumping in on this. I wanted to add the the BLUE KNIGHTS FL29 Chapter website in case anybody wanted to make PayPal donations or pre-print the registration form.
ALL proceeds from this donation as well as the event go directly to Jon. We now have a secondary firearm raffle going on & in reference to that, you can choose between the firearm or $400 cash.
Ruger & CO LCR & a Smith & Wesson INC Bodyguard 38. Tickets are $10

Also-Midtown Cycles and Motorcycle Clinic are giving prizes for 2 free oil changes each...just to name a few things that are going on. Raffles are being added daily.

Here is the link to Blue Knights FL29 for the Flyer; Registration Form to print early and bring with you if you wish, as well as a PayPal Donation if any of you would like to donate money as well.

It is on my calendar! and woody if you want to ride up together let me know
That would be cool Glenn. We'll pick a meeting point out that way somewhere so neither of us has to come out of our way. Not that we ever mind more miles on the ride. LOL

We'll see who's all going from our area and then pick a meeting spot. Would be nice to find a great back way there, since it will be early on a Sunday morning it shouldn't be too bad.

How cool would it be to have a huge VTX showing of support for this great cause? I'm ready too.

I guess this is our Aug ride. I may take you up on your air matress

You guys are GREAT! Seriously. There is so much planned with this thing. Supposedly we're looking at rolling back in around 12-1230 then eat, raffles, music etc etc then be done 2-3. And yes- having a huge VTX show of support would be outta this world. But-I'll be happy with any of you that come!

There was a police officer from New Zealand that actually went on the Blue Knights FL29 website and donated $100 :eek:

DaytonaVTX-just let me know!

Very cool Traci. I hope Kim has good luck contacting the state PGR ride captain, and they are able to consider it a ride worthy of a PGR showing. Since we have branched out into police and fire, I hope that it can be posted as a ride, or at the least, generates some PGR members interest in coming out.
