Ok guys I took the tail fender off to change my turn signals to LEDs, the only thing I did to the brake light was unplugged the three wires. After I got everything back together the brake light comes on but doesn't get any brighter when I press the hand brake nor the foot brake. I've changed the bulb and checked all the fuses, what am I missing?

The connectors are good, and didn't see any issues with the wires themselves
but are the connectors LOCKED into the housing ? making contact to the other half..
motorcycles do NOT use automotive grade connectors..

what about the Ground connection ?
power goes out the wire... return by green wire or metal frame.

pickup a automotive test LIGHT.. and go from fuse to bulb to ground..
its a very simple circuit..

I believe that the brake light is a two-filament bulb. One filament is the rear running light and the other filament is the brake light. Make sure that both filaments work. Make sure the bulb is inserted properly. Allegedly, it is possible to get the bulb into place 180 degrees out of the proper rotation.

Use a multimeter or test light to determine if both circuits of the rear brake/running light are getting power when a brake lever is pulled/pushed. This will help diagnose the source of the problem. Even though you put the bulb in both ways, it could still be a bad brake light filament in the bulb.

Glad you figured it out but sorry it was not a simple bad filament.

I had to get a hand brake switch once before. It was an easy replacement and working great now. Need it out here with some good P3 Tail lights flashing and shimmering.
