Hi Anybody using this universal cruise control, http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/d...otorcycle_Cruise_Control_for_Honda_VTX_1300_C

how sensitive is it ?

Also thinking to use it during cold starts to keep throttle open just a bit to keep the VTX idling to warm up while I gear up. (nope - not using the choke again. Second time now It's caused me to eventually flood the bike)
plus wanna use it for it's main reason - long road - no cramping....:D

I hear they are good and deffinately look good but pricey. If you want to same some money go with the universal Vista Cruise. Less than 40.00 I believe. That is what I have and works very well. Not as purty though.

I have the breakaway and use it to warm bike up and relieve the cramps on the long or short cold rides.

The breakaway works great just a tap of the front break and it is off or you can just thumb the release button.

$$$ but worth every penny when you don't have time to react other than hit breaks, no fumbling with anything and throttle is off, just my 2cents worth I would not use anything I had to think about to get it off in an emergency

Have to agree with Charlie D. I also have the breakaway cruise control on my X. Definately worth the price. After using it, I wouldn't have the cheaper style. A buddy of mine has the less expensive version, and although it works as a throttle lock, it does not have the brake release. In an emergency situation, where you only have time to react, the brake release is a very good thing to have. Works like a charm, is adjustable for the amount of brake pull as well as the size of grips. Mine is set to de-activate the cruise just before the brake light comes on. Works great to warm up the bike too. I use it all the time for that. It's also top quality and looks like a factory item instead of an aftermarket add-on.

When I consider purchasing an item that involves my safety, I have to consider what my life is worth. Really seems pretty inexpensive when you think of it that way.

+1 Charlie D. I bought it last week, installed it Wednesday, and am really glad I went with it. $$$ is right, but the safe factor was worth it to me. Also a little difficult to get it adjusted right. If you do get it, once you get it set, don't try fine tuning it! I did and ended up spending another 2 hours getting it back to where I originally had it.

Went over the Kuri Iso grips fine (a little work, but no problems) with dishwashing soap.

Had my eyes on one of these for a while.

What do you guys think of this device?
Looks better than the other "black" throttle locks. Still has the same amount of function though.

The choice of a cruise control device will of course be entirely up to the rider. It's going to depend on personal preference and ultimately what it's worth to you. I've found in life you usually get what you pay for. All throttle lock devices will "work".... but some offer better style and/or safety features than others.

Personally, I wouldn't have a throttle lock device on my bike that didn't offer an emergency quick-release feature linked to the brake system. IT'S REALLY THAT IMPORTANT! It'd be like having cruise control on my car that stayed on when applying the brakes. Kind of defeats the purpose.

But, as I said, it's ultimately up to the rider to choose.

Nitro Goose, Thanks for the feedback. I'm leaning towards the breakaway now and will give it more consideration. Looks nice too and that disengage feature is a step above the rest. Thanks man!
