Just added my first accessory to the bike.
I gotta say this thing is cool. Push a button to set it and push a button to release or just tap the brake.
And it looks good too.
I know the Breakaways are expensive, and I thought the same thing so I bought a cruise assist also. Seriously though, I wished I'd have saved that money for the shipping for the Breakaway. There is nothing like pressing that button and letting go of that throttle for however long you want or need to. :mosh: I frequently hang my arm down and fiddle with the fringes on my Mustang seat just to exercise my fingers and hand. Hand cramps and numbness are a thing of the past. :cheers:I have been debating this or getting the Kury cruise assist
So you are saying the Kury cruise assist isn't worth the cost?I know the Breakaways are expensive, and I thought the same thing so I bought a cruise assist also. I've been wanting one of these but I hadn't thought of it for morning warm ups, :hmm2:.After having this I don't know how I went without it for so long. Way safer than the throttle locks in my opinion. Touch the front brake and it's off. Plus its great for those cold morning warmups
That will be a pretty intricate undertaking, trying to recreate it without infringing on design patents, I would imagine.Congrats...I'm still waiting to see if Glen will start making these as well.atriot:
Maybe I brake all wrong but I use the front brake on nearly all braking. Not a grab or tremendous amount but I do engage it somewhat just in case. The slightest pressure on the front brake releases the BrakeAway. Not trying to start any arguements with any one but the statement that it's "way safer than throttle locks" I dont get. I have a $35 el cheapo throttle lock on mine and after 26,000+ miles the last 2 seasons have never had a safety issue of any kind while using it. It takes the same amount of pressure to disengage it as it does to turn on or turn off the turn signals.
If it's an an emergency braking situation your talking about, the LAST thing i'm doing is grabbing a whole lot of front brake. But thats another advantage of riding the Darkside. I have a lot more rear braking traction than a MC tire.
Like I said, NOT trying to start anything with anyone, just curious as to why some have said it's safer.
To the OP,congrats on your first mod and welcome to the Addiction.
OK I have to change out tires,(have an '04 but only 4302 miles on it) but I have read that you should change out tires after 7 years, Vote one for the dark side, more traction on stopping. The throttle lock (?) what kind of money are talking about?:hmm2:Not trying to start any arguements with any one but the statement that it's "way safer than throttle locks" I dont get. I guess I stated in my opinion without any background either. In my 20s I rode a bike for 3 years with only a front brake. Young dumb and broke. Nowadays my initial response is to grab the front immediately.Old habits die hard. With the brakeaway all it takes is the slightest touch of the front brake to disengage. In a panic situation most riders wil engage both. With a throttle lock if you're not used to it you will be braking and accelerating at the same time. It all depends on what you're accustomed to. Congrats on bike of the month. That is a sweet looking ride brother!!Not trying to start any arguements with any one but the statement that it's "way safer than throttle locks" I dont get.
