Anyone have experience bypassing the fuel pump on a 2003 1300 R? I understand it is fairly easy and doesn't affect preformance? Thanks.

Mondorah did his. Mine (knock on wood) is still running fine at 30k miles. Only down side is you will need to turn off you petcock every time you stop or change to a newer vacuum activated petcock.

It certainly doesn't hurt to get in the habit of shutting it off daily but, short term like over night you probably don't need to turn it off every time. If it's going to sit for a while (a couple weeks or longer usually)I would shut it off because over time gas can seep past the needle and drain the tank into the cylinders.

That being said I have had old gravity fed bikes that for years I never once shut off the gas and never had any trouble, but it can happen so if it's going to sit for a while it's just better to be safe than sorry.
