I was checking out the bike before going for a ride with my wife on Saturday. During the inspection, I noticed that my throttle was sticking in a full right hand lock position and was providing resistance all the way until turned slightly left past center.
Told the wife ride was going to have to wait until after I could track down the issue with the throttle. Long story short. Checked the Cafe search for "Throttle Cable" and got lots of information. Suggestions, Lube the cables, re-route cables back to stock position, WD-40 the throttle end of the connection.

Since the bike was used when I bought it, and I had moved the cables behind the triple tree over the winter, I knew I had some possible answers. First WD-40'd the Throttle end, no change. Next disconnected the ends from the throttle, used Seafoam Deep Creep to clean and lube the cables. Wow, good stuff so far. Close but still resistance at full right lock. Moved cables back to stock position and viola. Throttle snaps back to closed position in full range of motion.

So in closing, found a problem, research Cafe for possible answers, Check service manual for some technical know how, lots of my own time, some sweat and a little blood and secure in the knowledge that if I get in over my head there is a whole VTX community behind me just a "HELP" post away.

Gotta love the Cafe.

This site is better than a manual, you can ask us questions as you go.
valid point. I was just trying to express that with a little time, use of the search button, past write ups, and the service manual you can solve most issues without having to post up for directions.

Yet "if" you get in over your head, the ultimate fall back, is to post up for "Help" and then get all the help you need.

i depends, some have moved it without a single issue. When searching for information on throttle cables, there were several people who had moved theirs and the throttle would hang when the bars were at full lock right. Moving then back to stock position seemed to solve that issue for them, and has for me as well.

Don't allow yourself to become frustrated with the Search, while it is there and certainly it is appreciated when a mundane and often repeated question is asked, we're not a group who lashes out at folks who 'havent' used the search button yet. It's really ok... the world will continue to rotate.

That being said, often search will render you a ton of threads, but none that necessarily specifically touch on the subject someone is looking for... another common situation.

I've always enjoyed how folks will come here and ask subject matter, and for the VAST majority, we start answering it rather than "why didn't you search!"... again... depending on the subject matter... if another oil thread pops up... lol ;)

My point I suppose is I prefer folks just ask their question than get frustrated searching through thousands of posts, heck, we'll 'help' you search!

Have to agree with Mort on this one. In fact the only times I can remember seeing the "use the search" has been with oil questions.
The cafe is a great place to come if/when we need help.
