I was checking out the bike before going for a ride with my wife on Saturday. During the inspection, I noticed that my throttle was sticking in a full right hand lock position and was providing resistance all the way until turned slightly left past center.
Told the wife ride was going to have to wait until after I could track down the issue with the throttle. Long story short. Checked the Cafe search for "Throttle Cable" and got lots of information. Suggestions, Lube the cables, re-route cables back to stock position, WD-40 the throttle end of the connection.
Since the bike was used when I bought it, and I had moved the cables behind the triple tree over the winter, I knew I had some possible answers. First WD-40'd the Throttle end, no change. Next disconnected the ends from the throttle, used Seafoam Deep Creep to clean and lube the cables. Wow, good stuff so far. Close but still resistance at full right lock. Moved cables back to stock position and viola. Throttle snaps back to closed position in full range of motion.
So in closing, found a problem, research Cafe for possible answers, Check service manual for some technical know how, lots of my own time, some sweat and a little blood and secure in the knowledge that if I get in over my head there is a whole VTX community behind me just a "HELP" post away.
Gotta love the Cafe.
