i have a 2007 c when i hit bumps there is a clanking in the back of the bike somewhere i thought it was the license plate bracket but it is tight any one have or had this i would appreciate any info

I have the same clank (or clunk). Started hearing it in the front too. I think it's the suspension (best I can tell). Jury is out until I make the switch to the progressive shocks and springs - which may be soon.

Rear exhaust heat shield maybe. Try and grab it and shake it all about.....wait until it's cold though.

Just kidding - if its anything like the 1800 uranium green...it's a pretty cool color.

What setting are your rear shocks at. Try upping it one setting and see what happens.

the shocks are set at factory 2 should i go up to 3

IMO its worth a try. I'm 275 and ride at 4. I'm at 4 only because I'm too lazy to keep switching when I ride 2-up. I tried the setting at 2 for a while but I kept bottoming out. 3 does work for me. I say try it and see what happens. You can always change it back if you need (or want) to.

Clanging in rear?

I just purchased a new 05 1800R and have the same noise. I asked the dealer about it when I was unable to locate it and he said probably play in the driven't shaft. That just sent me back to searching as I've had shaft drives before that didn't have this problem. If you locate the cause please post it, on my bike it's quite loud and distinct but doesn't do it on all bumps.

camaroz28pr says that the clanking is from the rear brake caliper, i went out and tried to remedy this but i guess there is nothing you can do about it i am about to add hk sideburners so hopefully i wont be able to hear it for very much longer

Thanks I checked my caliper out and there is some slop that may be causing the noise.

Might want to check out the shock bushings. My scoot has 3k and they are already looking worn out. Does it clunk over bumps or when you hit the brake?

Had the same noise I think on my 06 1300c. Had a buddy of mine ride close behind me and he says its the kickstand.

Thanks for the other ideas. I've been gone for a couple of days but plan to spend most of fathers day putting around on my bike. I'll try to check some of these out. I did already check the helmet lock though, I wrapped it tight with electrical tape didn't help.

Meta355 It doesnt seem to clunk when brakes are applied it seems to be bumps, I first noticed it idleing over some speed bumps. The brake caliper does have some some slop if I grab it and try to shake it. Could be the problem but I'm going to try to check the shocks and the kickstand idea

Check your shock mount bushings, I have seen new bikes on show room floor that already have bad bushings and have never been on the road
