Im SURE there are debates on the internet as to the above topic, but im asking for anyones expierience with the VTX and not using the clutch to upshift. It seems hardly worth it between 4th and 5th because the ratio's seem very close.

When i used to ride my yamaha, they recommended NEVER doing it because the tranny was fragile (yzf600) but on my other bikes, if the ratios were close and i was just cruising, i did it.

I always use the clutch when accellerating or merging, this is just a slow cruise. Anyone ever have problems?:icon_ball

I've flat shifted mine a couple of times racing (which I don't do often anymore--but sometimes I just have to...old habits die hard you know) but can't necessarily say good or bad things about it. I'd stay on the safe side and use the clutch. I used to flat shift my Magna a lot, mainly because that bike would rip through the gears so damn fast you could barely clutch it (unless you had bionic reflexes) if you were really ripping the throttle.
