I wish I had read the other threads about caring a spare clutch cable. I had a week to ride the dragon but my clutch cable snapped and no one near Brevard NC or Knoxville Tn had one! My whole week was planned on doing nothing but Dragon runs with a camera! D'oh!
I'm getting two so I can have a spare, you should have one too!
Where did it break at. You might be able to run it forward (out of the cable casing) from the pivot point on the bottom and just past the place on the engine where the cable adj is at and put a loop in it and pull on it.
I've been carrying one under my seat for seven years.
I think I will be adding a throttle pull cable also.
Ive got a used one, I will give away, just come and get it.
They break just where it comes out of the houseing on the lower end, they rub and you have to take something and bend it around so its not rubbing.
Nice job Honda. :banghead:
Yep, you break a throttle cable and you are up a sheet creek.
I ve got flange bearings and other spare part i keep in my shop,
Yes, Honda will leave you on the side of the road, just like HD will.
I have never read about this being a common problem. At the price bassdude listed, I can't see any reason not to buy a spare though. Definitely something I need to look into.
I've only heard of two breaking in 7 years on two boards. If they are not going in the housing straight then they will rub and wear into. So bend it so it goes in straight. I have had mine for for 25k miles with no problem.
Just replaced all my cables with Motion Pro... I don't carry the stock cables on the bike when Im just riding local, but on long trips, you betcha, I carry them...
