Has anyone had their engine fins diamond cut? I am thinking about getting this done.
You suck Wayne, that is cheating. LOL.My fins were easy to do, dont know what all the fuss is about.![]()
+1 I have to agree that's cheating. I'll forget about the cheating if you come out and help me do mine.:cheers:You suck Wayne, that is cheating. LOL.![]()
The cuts increase surface area and in theory cool better.Never heard of it being done. Wont cutting the engine fins reduce their ability to cool the engine somehow?
Years ago a friend bought a bike that had it done, it looked very good up close but 10' away you couldn't even see it. I have no clue what the cost would be, but I'd say if that's what you want go for it...Has anyone had their engine fins diamond cut? I am thinking about getting this done.
I agree.Actually, being that our bikes are liquid cooled, it won't make one bit of difference....
The only reason Honda put the fins on hte engine is so it will LOOK like a HD engine. Liquid cooled doesn't need fins. If you take them off the engine looks very strange in a motorcycle.Actually, being that our bikes are liquid cooled, it won't make one bit of difference....
Ocean - I only painted the Upper Fins. They come right off with a few bolts. Here is a thread on how to do it. THe Pictures suck in the thread and dont give it justice. I also like just liked painting the Uppers (I polished all the fins) as it gives a good contrast in the engine for my Taste.Hey Chief, went to look at your gallery to see what the heads look like....damn....everyone should take a minute and check that gallery out!!! Oh, the heads really look great too. To paint the engine like that, I guess it has to come out of the bike? That's not something I could do....not if I ever wanted to actually ride the bike again anyway.
makes sense to me.....Actually, being that our bikes are liquid cooled, it won't make one bit of difference....
