For those of you who have swapped or replaced final drives does the swing arm get removed? Or how do you get the shaft into the u joint? Is it just slip in before buttoning up the new final drive? I have Clymer's manual but it's not clear to me. My Honda service manual is somewhere in storage since my last move. Tire is off and I am ready to pull old drive and replace. Also is the flange drive bearing real tight in the race? My old one spins fine and shows lots of moly paste still. I am replacing final and shaft with a very low mileage 1800 FD. I'd like to get responses from folks who have actually swapped drives out.

thanks,

NOPE - Does not!

Take Off Wheel - Brakes

Loosen 4 Bolts

Slip it out, New one back in (Might have to finagle a bit to align splines).

Use your MOLY Paste liberally.

Tighten back up and reinstall wheel,

1 Hour Job Tops.

Thanks, yes, I overnight end the new Honda paste. My tube of Honda Moly 60. I got when I first bought the bike got stolen a few years ago out of the saddle bags with some tools. Local NAPA had nothing even close.

with luck I'll be at the Oyster Run Sunday.
