I recieved a Factory Pro stage 3 jet kit for fathers day:D and am thinking of getting Dougs air intake to go with it.
Any of my fellow Xers out there running it and if so how do you like it?
Any issues with water getting in during rides in the rain?
How does it effect gas mileage?
All input is appreciated, thanks:cheers:

I have Doug's BAK and I like it. It has a nice meaty sound to it, definitely looks better and I've noticed an improvement in throttle response (though that's probably from the adjustments I've made to it with Glen's AF screw) If you don't have this item, I recommend it because it the bike does take some dialing in to get it tuned correctly. I'm still figuring which setting is best.

Good luck!

Anyone talk with Doug lately, I tried contacted him for one of his intakes but have had no luck.
Sorry if I missed your message somehow... I've been working 12/14 hr days 6 days a week but I do try to answer all my messages asap. The other news is no surprise, I still make them as often as I can but while working so many hours it's hard to find any time to make them so things have slowed way down again.

He ain't kidding either..I started it up the other day here and it almost sucked the boss (Odie) right into it!!...LOL...
Odie....:)
Just remember to tell Odie to take 5 steps back and stay low
(which should be the easy part for the little guy) :D

P.S. Just as a side note, all kidding aside I do feel bad when I end up having people waiting on me to get more done because I just can't get them done quick enough. But... I won't to a hack job on them just to get them out the door quicker, if I wouldn't mount it on my own bike it certainly won't end up on someone else's no matter how bad they want one. They may not be CNC quality but I do put in the effort to get them as nice as possible even though you can't see 90% of the mount itself it once it's mounted.
Edit: (I almost forgot, to those who are writing me wanting to prepay for one before there ready, sorry but I won't take a dime for one until it's boxed and ready to ship out the same day)

That's called integrity, and that's why you'll have customers for as long as you want them. Good man!

Everytime I get ready to pull the trigger and order one I get caught in a rain storm and cant help thinkin that if they suck air and small animals in what about the rain....I ride 32mi to work one way and we all know how often the weatherman is correct:nono: , I often find myself ridin in the rain at 1 am and dont want to be stranded on some backroad.
I know that some of you guys have had to ride in the rain is this gonna be an issue for me or am I just being paranoid.
I know that Doug makes a great product:mosh: but if its not gonna work out for my ridin style and conditions I would like to know before I make the change.
Thanks for all your help
Eric

I've had Dougs intake on for over a year and have been caught in torrents, it's never been an issue.

Yup what he said, the wonders of an oiled filter :D
The only time you might want to cover it is if it'll be parked when it might rain, and that's only because it leans left on the stand and some water could find it's way into the carb (even then I've never covered mine and haven't had any problem)

Doug, I'm still going order one soon and I apologize for not getting in touch with you last time I inquired but I suffered a heart attack and have been out of it for awhile. I'm back on the bike now though and will be getting in touch with you real soon... My job had just got rid of our insurance and I had quotes sitting on my desk when I had the attack. None the less the cost of the heart surgery has me a little strapped right now...lol
