Exhaust Heat Retention - VTXexhaust.com

Here's the deal, my 1800R already had a set of Cobra Drags installed when I purchased it. I got tired of the overwhelming rumble/roar while riding. I know, "if its to loud, your to old", but these were causing to many headaches. I spoke with the local Honda dealer & he had another customer wanting these specific pipes. So....I swapped him straight across for them. I got a stock set of pipes & he got the Cobra Drags & he had to pay the dealer for all labor costs to swap em. I am not to excited about the sound of these stock pipes (which I expected). However I really like the look of them. Recently while out on a ride with my wife, we both noticed the VTX was much hotter than usual & the right side near the floorboard got so hot she had to move her foot & rest it in my lap. I decided to look into yet another set of exhaust. Upon further internet searching I like the look, sound, testimonies, & price of the VTXexhaust.com mufflers. I was wondering if anybody has noticed a reduction in exhaust (or engine) heat after installing a set of their mufflers? OR if anbody has another set of exhaust that reduced heat retention while giving out a not so overwhelming rumble?

I called VTXexhaust & spoke with Bill. He was very nice to talk to & extremely helpful. I gave him my spill & asked if he knew whether or not the VTXexhaust modified mufflers would lower the header/engine heat retention. He told me that although they have not actually done a "test" to prove that it is so, he could tell a major difference in heat retention once a set of their exhaust has been installed. He also informed me that the stock muffler has 3 compartments seperated by 3 baffles which is the main cause of the heat retention. A VTXexhaust muffler has only 1 compartment with a "tumble" style supressor which allows the air to escape through a 2" (1300) or 2 1/4" (1800) opening. Given the information Bill gave me & the price Vs an aftermarket setup, I'm thinking I found a solution to my problem.
Thanks for the replies guys. Highroller152, I might have to try heat wrap on the header, haven't thought of that. As for the sound, I have only heard them on a 1300 & 1800 youtube videos. Thinking I might want to hear a set in person before I go this route after all.
