I need to remove the front (bottom) exhaust pipe so I can adjust the travel of the rear brake lever (found a good post for this part)...however, removing the exhaust pipe seems a bit daunting of a task. Is there any easy way to take off the pipe(s)? Also, I guess I need to buy new crush washers? It really looks like it is going to be a bitch to tighten them back up, especially the bottom nuts, even if I do get them off. Any advice?

Really simple. Took me about 10 minutes is all. A lot of people recommend getting a crows foot ratchet to help but I just used a regular open-end wrench with no troubles. Once off, make sure you get the old crush gaskets out! They are hard to see. Also, make sure you dont cross thread the stud/acorns when putting the exhaust back on

Hmmm...10 minutes. That means it should take me about two hours. What I really should do is sell the freakin' tool box and leave this to people who know what the hell they are doing. I am amazed I haven't left a trail of parts in the road as I speed away ! Or, maybe I did. Thank you.

Any "simple" job always takes me hours. Not sure, by every time a job seems easy, something always goes wrong! I've taken off the exhaust on more than one occasion and it's pretty simple. The hardest part was getting the old crush gaskets out. They can be a PIA. They can blend in with everything else and you won't even realize they are in there. I ran with my old set and new set in there until I confirmed with my friend that was helping me that he never took them out..... oops. Good luck.

I wimped out and had a mechanic buddy disconnect the pipe, yup, was not bad and it was off and back on in about 30 minutes. Key was a 12mm socket that has the knuckle joint built into it (never saw one of these before, need to get a set). He also adjusted the brake pedal at the bottom of the master cylinder so it doesn't bottom out on the crash bar any more.

They're almost impossible to see. I took a screw driver and hit the end of the exhaust port, flexed the gasket so I could see it and made it easier to grab
