I'd like to see pics of all the different types of fairings for the X, including close ups and profile pics plus if you're satisfied with it. I have a Road King fairing that was kind of butchered when I got it but it works. I'm not completely satisfied with it and debating whether to put more time and funds into it or (which i'm leaning towards) purchasing a fairing that compliments the bike more and has a more finished look.

Thanks for reminding me I need to get some decent pics of the fairing.

It is a Reckless fairing. Cheaper one, but if you look at the way the front of it looks around the headlight, it looks good. And there is no headlight extension on that headlight.

Ill get some more pics taken..

Reckless isnt showing any currently for sale. They're the $350 ones. They Are Not the best built, and Are Not stable out of the box. They need a little modding to get stable but nothing crazy.. weatherstripping, nuts and bolts instead of the screws with the thin metal clamps (think speakers) and a little mounting modifications to stabilize it.. it turned out just fine. But don't think its going to be an "out of the box stable" thing... its just not.. the fiberglass is too thin...

But, after all that, its really not bad and Looks like it belongs there by the way it is designed around the headlight.

Now, would I take a $1000 fairing instead? Oh yea... But is this one "good enough" and "does its job" and "looks good"? yeah, it does...

Gonzo, I have the reckless and it is certainly not great out of the box, but mine was very stable out of the box and the fiberglass is plenty thick enough. I bought mine in February of this year. Reckless fairings do need to change up the way the inner and outer bolts up but the clamps on the forks were rock solid. I have not painted mine as I am unsure if I like having a fairing yet.

If you have a fairing that you like take the time to make it work for you. I like the way mine looks on the X so I will probably finish it nicely and be done with it. My main problem is the windscreen is to low and I need to fab up another one.

I do paint motorcycles and cars as a hobby so I knew buying the reckless that I would have to do a lot of work, but that does not matter to me as I can do all of the work myself and make it look great. I may actually modify the heck out of this thing.

JOJO, GONZ, in my opinion, both your fairings look nice on the bike. I've seen Gonz's in person, and it is a nice set up as he has it now. The only reason I went with Tsukayu, was I had come into some funds to cover the expense, if I hadn't I would've gone a lot less money & installed my own stereo and accessories.

I'm running the Xtreme Revolution Ultra plastic fairing (they do have a fiberglass version) and I like it. I've had to fix a crack in it and get it repainted, but I absolutely love the way it wraps around the headlight and how low it sits compared to others.

Here are some pics, and this link will take you to a detailed write-up with even more pics: http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=243357

I got mine on Ebay for $200 fresh out of the mold, it's fiberglass and it was a breeze to prep for paint on the outer, and because it looked so good I just kept the black gel coat as the finished surface on the inner. I can't remember the sellers name now but I am very happy with it overall and I couldn't be happier with the price... I'd look around before you jump at any one brand, sometimes the cheap ones are just as nice as the high dollar models

P.S. Just in case anyone is wondering, I put on 2" fork extensions so I was able to relocate my turn signals under the bottom tree with no fear of them hitting anything when the tubes come up.

Hd Fairing

I too went with HD, only because of the cost and the abundance of goodies you can add. 6 speakers and guages plus chrome, chrome, chrome. Went with HD headkight, think it looks better than the VTX headlight in a fairing. Good luck with your final choice....

Mine is in my sig pic - not on my computer at home with my pictures. It's a WideOpenCustoms that was on the bike when I purchased it...

When I get home tomorrow night I'll add some with different angles.

Invicta factory 2nd off ebay here...Invicta is no longer in business, but I found another fairing on ebay EXACTLY like mine from a company called "Stealth" located in Greenville SC....Not VTX specific, as it's meant to be mounted to a Harley Roadking...So I had to fab up my own mounting bracket for it..I went this route because I wanted to use 6x9's in the fairing, and a Dragonfly fairing was (and still is) waaaay out of my budget...EXTREMELY happy with it, and get compliments all the time....

Oh yeah, I also added speaker to the saddlebag lids....:mosh:

Thats a great looking bike, Bassdude... dont care if it is blue... :)

Good job, my friend!

+1000, really like the way your scoot is lookin' Bill. Out of curiosity, what about rain and keeping it out of the speakers?:hmm2:, is there a type of drain for that? The reason I ask, is I'm thinking about doing something similar with my bags, but haven't been able to figure out a way to drain excess water.

Thanks guys...

As far as the speakers in the lids, I've been avoiding the rain, and if there is a chance of rain, I take the bike cover with me...We (Jenny ;)) did cover the metal mesh speaker grills with some of the same material I used in the fairing speaker holes....I treated the material with some Kiwi "Camp Dry" waterproofing stuff to help keep water out of the speakers..Fortunately haven't had to test that stuff to see how good it works yet...

Thank You so much for the information on the lowers. I called John and ordered a set for my X. The box arrived today!! I'm happy as hell.... He was great and so was his service!!! Can't wait to get them painted and on..... :) Now if only the fairing I ordered around 1st of November 2010 would arrive I'd really be happy.......

Thanks again.
