I've owned my bike for about 3 weeks now and yesterday I finally got a chance to take it for a ride in the mountains. I forgot how fun it is to just get away and be out on a bike. But it did teach me a few things. First off, I NEED A NEW SEAT!!! I bought a gel pad for the stock seat thinking that would help. I guess it helped a little, but not enough. I think I have the flattest ass in the world! Must have been all the spankings I got as a kid, LOL! My back was hurting a little too after being hunched over for so long. That may be just because I haven't ridden in a while, but I may want to get some new risers. Also, the suspension kinda sucks. I hit some bumps on the highway and I felt like I was being bucked off. And I could feel every bump I hit on the road with the front tire. I'll play with the shock adjusters but new shocks may be in my future too.

adjusting the shocks to a higher level usually helps with the bucking, mine are on 5 all the time and i dont have any problems.

yeah the stock c bars are pretty low, i got some R bars and risers from a guy here in the swap meet and it made the back pain go away.

its not just you, the stock seats on all these bikes is a torture device, you can either get the seat redone with better padding and covering, or buy an aftermarket, both options are nice

I just put a Mustang Wide Vintage Wide Tourer on mine yesterday. I've only had the opportunity to take it for a quick 10 minute ride down the road but I could already tell a difference. Just be aware that if you are already having issues leaning forward to reach the handlebars now, the Mustang seat is going to put you in a more reclined position so if you decide to get this seat, make plans to address that concern at the same time.

^^ Meancitycycles.com You forgot the "s" at the end :D
I was planning on sending my seat out to them as well, if I can't rework the seat myself. I re-did my passenger seat with new shaped foam and covered it all with a fake wool covering.. she loves it.

Just being able to get away and not think about much else but riding is a great feeling. Especially if you're not on a time schedule and just GO! Feels good man.:choppersm

Thanks for the advice guys. I will check out meancycles.com about the seat. I'm trying to stay away from a big ol' touring seat. I want to keep a certain look to my bike. The sleeker, the better. Unless the Mustangs are the same size as a stock seat? I need to see things in person. I have all these ideas of what I want but not sure how they actually look on a bike. I would like to eventually put a 6 degree rake on the front so I'm not sure what I'll do with the bars and risers with that. I don't want to buy parts and then have to change them again in the future. I'll probably just deal with the back pain for a while and address the seat first. Oh yeah, my rear shocks are set at 3 right now, I will try 5 out, thanks.

I just measured my Mustang seat and the Stock seat and the Mustang seat is 1-1/2" wider than the stock seat, the passenger seat is 1" wider than stock. Hardly noticeable just from looking at it. I understand your concern though, that's why I didn't order an Ultimate seat (that and it was over $100.00 more than the Mustang) it looks very comfortable but I was concerned about looks as well. I have heard a lot of good things about Meancitycycles but I wanted to be lower and like the amount of lower back support the Mustang provides. Either way you go it will be a signaficiant improvement over stock! I was in a 62-mile charity ride 2 weeks ago and was hurting so bad at the end I felt I wasn't going to be able to put my legs down when we stopped!

So I contacted meancycles.com and they replied and let me know I was looking for meancitycycles.com, LOL! Although I do want to get the fat tire kit from them someday :D Once I went to the other site I saw they have good prices to reform my seat. Gonna wait until I get moved to do it though. Thanks for the tip!
