Hi everybody, I am currently in Iraq and have been looking at new bikes for a while now. We currently own a Ninja 600 and at first I was thinking of upgrading to another crotch rocket. After some long hours spent soul serching I decided to by my 2nd cruiser and 4th motorcycle.

It took a while to choose one because I want to go for the chopper look, without having to spend too much time making/seeking out "custom" parts. My schedule only really allows for a bolt on affair. I looked into the Vulcan 1600 and just didn't find the aftermarket support I wanted. I was left with two options. Yamaha Road Stars, and Honda VTX's. More research led to me some good web sites, and after seeing some very well done VTX choppers I was sold. Although I'd rather have a 1800, I felt the price was a little out of my reach, specially after adding X-thousand dollars in parts. I had my wife sold on the 1300 when she made a great recommendation... find a used, low mileage 1800.

It didn't take long to find it. A quick search led me to ebay which landed 20-something results for used VTX 1800's. From stock to stunning, from cheap to outrageous I had some good choices. One bike stood out. A brand new 2006 VTX 1800C spec 3. It was a carryover model from a dealership and was priced lower than a new 1300 (or new 600cc crotch-rocket for that matter). I wrote my wife and asked her to make the inquiries and sort everything out. This was about 2 weeks ago...

Well, yesterday she finally sent off the check, and everything is set. The bike is mine and will be shipped straight to my house next week. I'll post some pics when it gets there; but it's an '06 VTX1800C-Spec3, black with red flames, and zero.. yes, ZERO miles on the clock . I am so happy, but mostly I just love my wife... who has been calling, faxing, scanning, and emailing everybody all over the country to make this happen for me while I just do this...:coffee:.

Sorry for the loong post, but I just had to rant and get it off my chest. I can't wait to share some pics and know it's "MY BIKE" I'm looking at :)

I think you opted for a tremendous bike. I have an 1800C and just love it. I don't recall the company but I saw a really cool raked fork and wide tire kit for the X.:choppersm

It sounds to me like your wife is as proud of you, as you are of her. I hope you both have nothing but good times on it and alot of them.

Thank You, and everyone else there and Afg. also for all of your service. We would be, or have nothing without it. Now be safe and do whatever it takes to get back here. :patriot:
