I am changing my front tire and found that my right fork sits 1/16-1/8 inch lower than the left (i had to push up on the right fork to reinstall the axle). Is that far enough out of allignment that I should worry about it? If so, is there a procedure for allignment?

I haven't got the 1800 manual

On the 1300 there is a mark on the axle it must be placed on the line in the fork then the pinch bolts on the off nut side are tightened.
The nut is placed on and torqued then the pinch bolts on the nut side
Last step is to loosen the pinch bolts on the non nut side and bounce the front a few times then torque the pinch bolts.

Doing this sets the axle alignment to the fork tubes.

Like I said may or may not be the same way for the 1800

Just a follow up, the bare-ass choppers instructions worked well. Regarding my initial concern with the left and right fork height not aligned, this appears to be a non-issue. Axle alignment is critical, I did fight some left brake drag. Several adjustments later, I think I found the sweet spot. Note: grease on the front axle may not be the best idea as the axle may slip a thousandths or two in the axle pinch assembly when riding.

Thanks for the quick response.
