OK, My 1300C has about 26K on it. I just ordered parts to fix a fork seal leak BUT I am wondering how much time AKA I want to ride... How long can I let it go before it is a problem? So far it just spits a little on the frame, I don't have any puddles on the floor but I don't know if that happens or not.

Thanks,
Bill

The seal could fail at anytime. Fork seals aren't hard to replace and shouldn't take but an hour or two if two have a lift.
From my experience, it will fail when your on a 500 mile road trip at 11 PM in a town with two gas stations and it's the county seat and the biggest town for 50 miles.
I'm just sayin'.

Take my word for it, it only gets worse, try cleaning fork oil off of your exhaust pipe once it's been baked on, and yes, that will happen if left long enough. Don't ask me how I know.

Toasted, what parts do you recommend to replace? My forks just started leaking on the right side. I found the your write up, which was very excellent on how to take the forks apart.

jbubee, get a seal kit, it will come with a new seal, and dust cover, also order a new washer, you will want to use the old washer to get the new seal seated right.

Before you replace the seals, try running a film negative around the fork tube under the seal. Bareasschopper and rattlebars both have a nice write up. Last weekend my brother had a right side leak on his Valkarie. He followed the procedure it stopped leaking and we rode 1975 miles with no leak last week.
