Alright so I've found a bike I want for the price I want, but I don't have anyone to ride with me the 2 hours to Homassasa to go get it. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Anyone ever used a Uhaul to transport a bike?

Anyone have any other ideas, even if I do uhaul I'd have to buy a buddy a receiver and ball, and then pickup some tiedown straps and figure out something for a ramp, I don't really want to sink $200 into picking up this bike today.

I had to pull mine out of repair shop in the middle of winter, it was like 50 miles away so I rented a motorcycle trailer from U-Haul. One of my friends has a hitch on the back of his SUV and I purchased so straps at the U-Haul place to get it home.

If its not broken, the easiest thing to do is get an experienced rider to bring it home for you. The seller may be willing to do that for you if you give him a ride home.

agree with wayne, ask the seller to ride it to you (may have to repay him gas and buy him lunch) and you'll give him a ride home...or, 20 bucks for 4pk of tie downs at wal-mart, 1 day rental for the MC trailer from uhaul, borrowed hitch, and gas and it's there, sitting in your yard :)

I've heard Uhaul was the way to go when trying to tow a bike (if you don't already have a trailer). After you get it home, don't forget to post pics!!!

I used a U-haul motorcycle trailer to bring my X back. 16 hours 1 way. Worked fantastic. I think i drove back without ever looking out the windshield, I was so nervous...that's just because I had never trailered a bike before. Good trailer, cheap cheap cheap. I think it's a great choice.

My only option for a towing vehicle is a Explorer that my buddy will let me borrow and U-Haul won't rent trailers to tow with an Explorer. So that's out, I'm going to drive up there today and go ahead and buy it and get the title and keys and try to convince the wife to drive me back up there tomorrow. Really my only option, I'd ask Woody, but being new to the forum I don't know about asking someone for a favor like that.

If you dont ask you'll never know. This forum is full of great people that are always helping each other out. Woody is definitly one of those guys that if he can help someone out he will.

You can rent a truck from home depo for $69 a day, and the trailer from uhaul.

PS I just talked to woody and hes on a PGR mission today.
Thanks, I'm going to head over and try to buy the bike, get the keys and title in my hand and pick it up tomorrow. ::fingers crossed it is still there tomorrow:::icon_eek:

Yeah, I debated it... looked up the location, not too far from us, won't be able to stray until the weekend at the earliest.

Seriously though Mullet... helping a guy go pick up a Vtx... well, hell, that's an honor.

Yes, we had that problem too. You have to make sure the forks compress so the bike doesn't bounce around.

First, let me say thanks for the kind words Mark and Hoss. I would have gladly tried to help out, but had a PGR mission today and have to work an OT shift tomorrow night. Chris, what is the main issue in getting it home? Do you not have a license or is it the ride up there so you can ride it home? And everyone is right Chris, this place doesn't stand on formalities, just ask if you need something, someone just may be able to help.

Oh, and I'm assuming you haven't seen the bike yet? Just trying to find out all the details. Would hate for you to really want it, then get there and it be different than what you thought. Is it at a stealer or private sale?

Make sure you get it insured when you get title in hand. This way fully covered if you get hosed.

I picked mine up in February snow and sleeting blowing wind. I rented a Uhaul enclosed trailer and hualed it home. When I got home the bike was not even wet or anything. The trailer rental cost me about 23.00 for the whole day. I am sure you will get it worked out. I wish I was closer I would try and help you out..Good Luck
