Ok gathering parts for my VTX 1800 engine upgrades........Installing Vance Hines Big Shots, Kuryakyn Hyper Charger (I know bassdude......lol), Desmog with plates.

I have heard both sides of the coin no management or with management, I have decided to go with a management system. Cost is not really a concern to a point, if I can still get good management at a lower price I will go with it.

I want the performance of the system not trying to solve any problems (yet) nor am I worried about the bike not performing ok to ride after upgrades. I would like to have the bike/system change management like a car on the fly. Not just have a predetermined MAP. With that being said I have narrowed it down to 3 units 2 of which I can find info on and one I am still searching for information (I need help for this one).

The systems are:
1) Cobra Fi2000 Powerpro Tuner CVT
2) Power Commander V (5) with from what I am reading to get where I want a Autotune Dual Channel unit (This one looks pricey but may be better option than Cobra)
3) B&B Fuel Management .....This is the unknown. I cant find any real time new info on these the website is down www.biglry.com....HELP!!!!!

Everyone here has been great and I have been reading info on all of these some of the information is dated, and some is personal opinion which I respect all ideas and suggestions. I would like to hear facts and real life experience.

So let the information begin. I want to hear anyone's advice, facts or real time experience with any or all of these products and if someone is running a setup like mine please chime in I have questions.

I know there is new VTX owners like me looking for the same advice and probably are going thru what I am on information that is spread out all over, and 2 of the systems are pretty new to the market.

Thanks in advance....The bike is a 2002 "C" 1800

You might want to double check on the Power Commander 5. Unless I'm wrong I don't think that unit will work on the VTX. What I was told was that it was only compatible with either 2010 or 2011 and up model years for harleys and a few other makes.
Best way to find out is check with Power Commander http://www.powercommander.com/eng_default.aspx on applications and fitment.
Or try these guys http://www.fuelmotousa.com/
If you do decide to go with Power Commander you may have to use the PCIII USB model.
Again, not positive about this but the PC V auto tuner is a very expensive little doo-dad and it would certainly suck to shell out that much money and not be able to use it.

I use an EJK (Electronic Jet kit) from: http://www.electronicjetkit.com/

The stock EFI system changes settings on the fly. The E.J.K. does not affect those settings, but uses them.

It tunes like a carburetor, and simply richens or leans the stock fuel mapping. You can set/select the RPM range to adjust (just like selecting carb jets to change), and then set the selected RPM range to be richer or leaner in steps, and half-steps. If you know how to jet a carburetor, it's really easy to adjust this fuel controller. If you don't know how to jet a carb, it may be confusing to you.

You'll almost certainly want to richen the mixture. As it came out of the box, it was pretty close. I only adjusted two RPM ranges, to dial it in.

You need:
9120273GEN 3Honda VTX 1800 2002-2008
List price is $250

Mine works great, but it's the only fuel truner I've ever had, so I have nothing to compare it to directly.

It was easy to install. Everything just plugs in, with no cutting/splicing of wires.

By the way. I use the PCIII and just finished a ride through the Smokie Mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway. Elevation changes from 1000 feet above sea leave to over 6000 in just a few miles and back down again. Worked perfectly...never had so much as a hiccup. Any higher than that well...I don't know. But I would think that the PCIII along with ECU on the bike can handle most any situation.

Thanks for the info so far guys keep it coming.

Just talked to the guys at Dyno Jet the PC 5 Model No. 16-035 will work on the 02-03 C and Retro Models. And to do the same thing and more it will need the auto tuner vs the Cobra total change is $800.00 plus.... Cobra unit for similar but less adjust-ability 450.00 change. FYI here.

Thanks for the info Steve...will check that out. I can rejet a Holley carb and my old 750 Honda so should be a piece of cake. I might like that system.

hmmmm... interesting. When that thing came out I asked about it and they told me it would not work on any year VTX. But that was about 3 years ago. They may have made some slight modifications to it since then.

I have the PowrPro and am very well satisfied with it, but I have zero experience with other systems. Smooth across all RPM ranges and throttle positions, and zero popping with V&Hs and an opened up airbox. When I was shopping, I rode two bikes with the PowrPro and two with other systems, and if my bike hadn't already had the Cobra on it I had already decided I was going that route.

The power commander 5 is a usable system on the VTX and its a good unit as well as the Cobra after talking to both companies tech department and a few members on here via the forum and PM I have decided on the Cobra......for this reason it is a total plug and play system and it operates on a open loop system. Now the power commander doors this as well but you have to install the auto tune which requires you to install a O2 sensor into your exhaust. Then it can work in a open loop system and self adjust. Now it does allow for the owner to tweak a bit more on the bike. But I prefer to not have to do that or even have the ability to do so. Thanks to all that have responded both on the forum and those that PMd me. I will report my findings when I get it all hooked up.

You mentioned the B&B. I had one and it is out of production now. The closest to it is the Cobra PowrPro.

I have the Cobra Fi2000 Powerpro and absolutely love it! Currently running V&H pipes and high flow filter. Smooth ride in all rpms with no popping! The selling feature for me was no mapping and absolute efficiency! "PowerPro reads the engine's performance up to 80 times per second to optimize fuel delivery at all throttle openings under acceleration, under every kind of load and under all existing environmental conditions to deliver maximum acceleration." Install was very easy so let me know if you have questions.

Did you make any adjustment or just stay with the setting from Cobra.
