Any recomendations on full faced helmets. I was considering getting one for long rides as I have heard it cuts down on fatigue and helps with aerodynamics. I like the ICON LEGION MAINFRAME but don't know much about the different manufactures. Is there anything specific I should consider, taking into consideration that the average temperature in vegas in over 100.......

For full-face, I still use my original Vega Summit XPV. Modular/flip-up style, good ventilation. They're pretty cost effective compared to some others out there. I only use it when it's fairly cold temps. out now, and usually use a Fulmer Hombre half-helmet for any other time outside of colder temps.

Best thing I did to cut down "wind fatigue" for longer rides/higher speeds was to add a windshield. That made the biggest difference.

If you use a flip-up or full helmet in hot weather, the only way you get airflow through the helmet is without the windshield. Thus, you either get pressure and bug and rock relief or you get airflow.

Just an observation from a guy who drives to work everyday in Dallas (tons of days at 105-107 degrees this year.

Good luck.

One thing to take into consideration is the shape of your head. Some helmets fit a round head better, others an oval. Try one on and wear it around the store for a bit and see if you feel any "hot spots" . That will be your first clue the helmet is not a good fit for you.

I wear a Nolan 102 (flip) andI love it. I regularly ride in 100 plus temps and have no problem with it. Yes a helmet will help cut down on fatigue on longer rides but also add earplugs and you'll be set. Good luck finding a great helmet!

I wear an HJC Max...modular full face.......cuts down on bugs, and other debris.....if its too hot, I just lift the lense a bit....this works well too if its humid...its silver to enhance my visibility to others:choppersm

First, do you have a windshield? I find it impossible toenjoy a long trip without one. They cut down the pressure on your chest and reduce the wind around your head. Even a small one will help and make a big difference (I have a Memphis Shades Shooter). Next, Since all of us have different shaped heads, it's hard to say "buy this one". Go to a retail bike shop and try on several to see which brand fits your head the best. Personally, I like the HJC helmets. They are DOT approved and not to hard on the wallet. Back to the windshield, if you get one, you may find yourself doing as I do: half helmet in summer, full helmet in winter.
Check out www.motorcycle-superstore.com
They have the widest selection of helmets I've seen with great prices. I get my helmets there.
