OK, 03 VTX 1300R, I'm sure the tank and fill are all the same for every year and model. I hit reserve and can ride for about 25 miles (only tested to 22 after reserve before hit the station). I filled up and put 4.63 gallons in it. I fill right to the bottom of the fill hole with bike upright (not on stand) and try to point the front tire down hill if the fill station has a slope.

Even with this, I think the placement of the fill hole is way to far towards the middle of the tank. I see space for another half, maybe three-quarter gallon of fuel. Why is the fill hole placed there instead of up on the top right of the tank, making filling on the kickstand easier and allow more fuel.

Anyone cut a new fill hole with a bung and cap in the top right of the tank?

I think the tank is 4.9gal with reserve somewhere around 4.2 gal, is this correct?

I'm just tired of filling up every day and a half, especially when I see potential for another almost gallon of fuel in the tank.

I understand what your saying...There are a lot of questions people would like to ask the designers of Honda bikes. Such as why they have never put a gas gauge on these bikes..Not just a fuel light on the 1800's.
