The guys at Honda tell me regular unleaded is fine.
What do you guys use? Regular, Mid Grade or High Grade?

I started off with premium b/c my Honda Guy recommended it, but the owner's manual says regular is fine. Many VTX owners out there on the websites believe either 1) premium is harmful to the engine and/or 2) a waste of money. I switched to regular recently and haven't noticed any decrease in performance; actually runs smoother so I'm sticking with that for now.

Tried everything, mileage and performance was the same. Low compression - low octane.

Your wasting money on premium because your bike (1300) is a low compression motor and premium requires a high compression motor to get the most out of it. Sounds like a good idea because you want the best for your bike but it doesn't give you anything extra. Your motor is designed to run on regular.

Most people that use premium octane gas in their cars are wasting money as well. Makes the oil companies happy though...

25,000 miles on regular 180 miles from fillup to reserve, then another 40 to find more regular.

i also use regular with a pinch of lucus gas treatment it works for me
